Two reasons:
1) You can't. BeatPort use your IP address to detect where you're coming from and price accordingly. This doesn't always work, so some people in the UK get US pricing, and some people in the EU get UK pricing. You can get around this using a proxy server, but then you increase the risk of having your account details intercepted (apparently).
2) I don't want to deal with a company that employs a xenophobic pricing policy. It's not like it costs them any more to ship tunes to the UK! They're just buying into the "dollar = pound" mentality that fuels "rip-off Britain".
Juno Download gets my money now. And they also do (some) WAVs too.

did something happen there recently with the way you preview?
i went on recently and went to techno and I couldnt skip through in the way I used to - like you have to look for specific things now - it used to be grouped or something
I'm well out of the loop though

try buying an album's worth of wav downloads (in europe) and watch your creditcard burst into flames. It's cheaper just buying the cd.

Cheaper than buying vinyl though. 12" costs 7 quid a pop. Sometimes for one track.

yes, Beatport plays the "cheaper than vinyl" card to justify their pricing as well. That's still no reason why it should be more expensive than a cd imo.

I have used Beatport quite a bit in the past to buy singles, and tba, never really thought much about the price. Until I tried to buy an album.
The album in question was Frequencies Fall by Pitch Black
The album is $17.88 on Beatport. This seemed a little expensive to me so I shopped around and found the same album on AudioJelly for £7.99 ($15.78 according to xe.com).
Since then, I haven't bought a single track from BP without checking other online stores for a better price.
Shop around - it is the only way you will get them to lower their prices.

I think they will also lower their prices and get more traffic if they somehow figure out a better way to expose people to great fresh new tracks that change frequently. Say all you want about the in-store DJ crate deep digging experience comparison but a lot of the point of anything being on the Internet is convenience and being able to find what you are looking for quickly. I don't turn to the internet so I can emulate the BS parts of my in-store experiences.

As far as vinyl goes, and I made this argument in another thread. Show me any song that was supposedly vinyl only and I'll be able to download it for free within 2 weeks and nobody is getting paid for it. Also nobody on the dance floor is going to know it's 2 weeks old. You're really screwing yourself as an artist if you are going the vinyl only route.
Please find this one for me
Moby - Go (Trentemoller remix) 320bit file

Heh heh, man. I was actually thinking about that last week. You win. But not because I couldn't find it but because I have just been too lazy to boot up my PC, which takes about 20 minutes to boot, and load soulseek. Given that, now can you see how an ass like myself would complain when I can't find great music on beatport within half a click?
