help w/ Impulse please

Post by glsimonsen » Mon May 21, 2007 2:02 pm

Hey, I've got Ableton 4 here. Problem w/ Impulse: I load it to Midi track, arm track, place a Midi file in same track, can see Midi file running, can see green meter going up and down in Impulse, outs are sent to Master audio, but no audio or green meter lights in Master track. Sometimes I get it working properly and other times I'm baffled not to get any sound. Is this a bug in 4 or am I buggy?

Thanks

Have you loaded samples into the cells?

Oh, if u mean are the Impulse cells loaded, yes they are. I've got a preset kit in there. When I click the play button on an individual Impulse cell, it does make noise. Just no noise when I trigger the midi file.

gracias.

I am thinking the notes in the midi file are not mapped to the same notes in Impulse. Impulse uses C3 - B3 so if the midi file is playing anything other than that they will produce no sound.

Try loading the same midi file into a midi track containing Simpler and if you hear sound then I reckon that is your problem.

"Z and X" keys set the note range for midi tracks. Just like Amigo said, make sure your note range is starting at C3. In the bottom left area of the screen you will see what your note range is when you press either the z or x keys on your keyboard. :D
