Volume from Guitars

Post by dcpbluesman » Thu May 31, 2007 8:41 am

Im using a toneport ux2 with gearbox and live lite. I plug my strat into the normal input on the tone port but I dont get much volume on the meters or faders. I looked at soundcard settings and some settings in gearbox. Now this equipment is supposed to be the bees knees so I should be able to crank up. Also can I run my amp (roland cube) through toneport. Help please

Besides the overall output level on GearBox, which I'm sure you already checked, check the volume setting on whichever amp mod or preamp mod you are using. Many of them are only half-way up by default (it took me a while to figure this out. I just got a TonePort UX2 this week, so I'm new to GearBox, too).

As for using your amp, you have two choices, one is to run a chord from its line out (if it has one--make sure it's not a powered out!) or headphone out (if it has one). The better solution is probably to put a microphone on your cab and run that into the XLR input on the UX2. You can either bypass GearBox or run it with no amp/cab simulations, unless you find some combo that sounds nice on top of what's coming out of your amp.
