Would be nice that if you wish to loop with beat repeat, the song you're playing does not actually continue to play. So it is almost live looping but when the beatrepeat is turned off then the track continues from the point the beatrepeat was turned on.

I hear what you are saying but for whatever reason it strikes me as problematic.
I mean, generally speaking it doesn't seem right to have an audio effect be able to control the position of the transport, which is what it boils down to.
since "continues from the point the beatrepeat was turned on" sort of implies Arrange view to me (?)...
I think it would be better to for instance have a way to drop quantized locators, or something like that, to make it easier to re-start playback from the 'effect point' if you wished to do so. At least that way you could rig some way to simultaneously turn on the effect and have a launchable position created, so that you could resume where you left off when you were done with the effect.
