from a newbie

I have just installed live 6. Is it my impression or among the many instruments
there is "some" important miss?
For example there is no piano! just an "electric piano" or a "piano for airport"(!?)
what about a simple violin?
a simple guitar?
a basic bass?
a trumpet?
a hammond organ?
....

Am I missing something very basic?

I know what you mean, I had to hunt for a good piano synth (I found pianoteq which is great, check out the free trial). All of those instruments are included on the essential instrument collection though.

Sounds like you may need/want a sampler, Live's a sequencer by definition. Check out the emulator by e-mu, but also check into the EIC. It is KILLER!
