Tab to Transients feature ala PT or Logic Please!!!
This is one thing I REALLY miss since making the move from Pro Tools to using Abelton exclusively. LOVED to be able and hit the tab key in PT to jump right to the peak attack start of a wave form.
Please!
Please!

Cool... glad you agree. Every PT user uses this religously, so seems a BIG one too ad. Would rather not depend on an external editor for this either.
Just jumped ship from Pro Tools to exclusively Ableton. (too much pissed me off about PT, having to have a stupid interfact plugged in on the go was a BIG one, aside from Live being so much more inspiring all aorund to use).
So, PLEEEASE add to Live 7, i know 50 PT users off hand that would be much more warm to Live because of this alone.

Hello Amaury,Amaury wrote:Hi,
Just to be clear and make sure I understand right: in Pro Tools, the TAB key makes the insertion mark jump to the next edit point right? Means, to the next clip edge? Is it what you are talking about?

That is EXACTLY it. The Tab key that brings you to the next clip edge exactly as you have said. That would be soooo huge for me (and many other former PT/Logic users I have already turned into Live heads). Thanks for making the best audio App ever.
This is what it looks like to turn on/off in PT (sitting in the upper left hand corner of the screen next to Slip/Spot/Grid mode, etc...

Speaking of, the ability to SLIP would be excellent too when editing a song down in the arrangement view.

Are you sure he knows what we mean? "Clip edge' in Live means edge of a live audio or MIDI clip
Tab to Transient detects the transients "inside" the clip .. right?
It puts the marker on the edge of a transient so you can then SPLIT the clip if you want to. Then allows you to TAB forward and hit the subsequent transients in the waveform
Correct? This is totally different

Good clarification Josh, not only is it important to tab to the START of a audio clip but ALSO to TAB forward to hit the subsequent transients in the waveform. That is where this becomes very useful in editing things, primarily drums though i have found countless use for the function.Josh Von wrote:seanwolcott wrote: Hello Amaury,

For instance, I will tab to the first hit of a track of drums (or several at the same time with PTs mix group function), command/E to separate, tab again, repeat until each hit is separated to freely move around/swap, etc...

Re:
Nope. Ableton destroys Pro Tools in flexibility. Pro Tools DESTROYS Ableton when it comes to handling, editing and moving audio. Actually you can even say the same about midi because tab to transient has a midi version where you can tab to the next note.seanwolcott wrote:Anyone know.... Was this implemented in Live 7?
Im going to be SOOOOOO bummed to have to wait if its not.

Re: Tab to Transients feature ala PT or Logic Please!!!
for mac:
alt-left/right arrow keys while in arrange view.
alt-shift-space to select range.
alt-space to audition.
substitute the 'alt' for whatever the pc equivalent is.
works in arrange's clip view only.

Re: Tab to Transients feature ala PT or Logic Please!!!
Thank you for your suggestion on how to jump to the next clip edge = alt (pc) / opt (Mac) + arrow key = jumps to the next clip edge. However, the premise of the thread is: Is there a way to jump to the next, "Transient," of the waveform within a clip. Has this very useful feature been implemented? If not, why? And hearing people use the excuse, "You just want all DAW's to be the same. This one is different," is non-sense, because it is a good idea. Use it!
