Maybe some of us have really pitiful existences, and the only place of solace is the Ableton forum. Maybe some of us are torn up inside everytime they read a newspaper, and their only way of escape is to come onto the internet and shoot the shit with the Ableton community.

Of course I'd feel different about this if it was my wee girl, of course.

But it's not. So I'm rational about it. An abducted kid is a horrible thing. The murder of a child is a horrible thing... but I live in western Europe. Each and every fucking BREATH I TAKE means some kid somewhere dies. Every hour I work is paid for by interests of what my ancestors made from gang raping Africa and the Americas and it tears me up inside. It is so horrible you couldn't count to it if you had a million years and back again.

But yeah, I'm a callous fuck with a shallow existence, a thief and a murderer. But that applies to anyone who's not a dumpster diver and engaged in constant violent opposition to the system. IMHO.

As for that poor girl, if she is found alive i will be VERY suprised as i dont think it likely. Historically speaking abducted children like this are usually murdered very shortly after they are abducted. Hope is not something i hold for her.

As for putting up posters, its part of peoples make up to want to do something to help. But i can bet you a pound to every penny that the parents of this lost little soul would much prefer us to spend more time with our OWN children making sure THEY are healthy and happy than putting up posters of this little girl in unlikely places.

IMHO of course.

I have a son, and I've been through an experience where he went missing for a few hours. He was over at a nearby neighbor's house and NO ONE EVEN THOUGHT that a six year old boy should go the fuck home or AT LEAST CALL HIS PARENTS as the clock ticked towards 10:30 PM.

Oh you'd better believe I beat his ass for not coming home before the street lights came on.

I had cops searching for him all over the neighborhood...even the cops got in the neighbor's ass for not having the common sense to AT LEAST walk over to my house to see if it was okay for him to play with their children so late. He doesn't leave the house now without a cell phone. If I call it and he doesn't answer, I'll put his ass on punishment for the entire Summer. I won't go through that experience again.

With that being said...

I'm sure this happens in other countries as well, but the press couldn't care less if a little black or latino kid goes missing. No one cares when it's white trash either. Oh but when a middle/upper class white child goes missing....shit the US would pull soldiers outta Iraq to track down that child. A black child just went missing in Philadelphia last week, and I'd bet ANYTHING that story didn't make it past the local news. Similar incidents have occured in NY over the past few months. ANytime a Puerto Rican baby goes missing the story gets aired for 3-4 days. If the child isn't found the story gets pushed back to page 30 of the New York Times...or at some time right before the weather report. It's truly fucked up.

In fact a few years ago a little black girl in Philadelphia was abducted, and she managed to ESCAPE ON HER OWN after tearing off the tape from her hands and breaking out of a basement window. That story received press for about 3 days. I can't name names, but I can remember the faces of at least a dozen white children who went missing, and the press REFUSED to let you forget the name of the school they attended, their birthdates, the names of their great uncles...shit is really twisted here in the states. Lke I said I'm sure it's like that everywhere.

Anyway I hope the little girl gets found....even if her parents really were THAT Stupid/Careless/Reckless to leave her in a hotel room alone to go out eating....?????

Which is great and I love that. Your comment was fine until it then started a comparison with kids in Iraq or whatever, helping to keep this 'off topic' thread alive and then provoking responses to it. I would normally not bother replying but when some others started jumping on the hijack thread element then I thought I would exercise my right to reply. I am a father and the thought of my flesh and blood missing petrifies me.

Steinberg have banned all the posts about Madeline etc at the cubase.net forum because they are off topic and their house rules states music only, no politics, religion or anything else. If you post anything, it will be locked within a couple of hours there.

Ableton have a much more relaxed approach to moderation where it seems anything goes. I have never commented on all the garbage political threads on here. The more liberal approach of Ableton does seen to be appreciated by many people though.

Oi punk. I was not the one comparing it to kids in Iraq, so don't start flinging shit pies at me.

This thread is titled " Please spare some of your time" so initially I thought it was a problem someone was having with Live. So I came in wanting to help, then I read it. Then I felt compelled to reply. Then someone else felt compelled to reply to my reply, and thus a circle of replies begins.

If the opening poster had marked as off topic or as not having anything to do with Live, I could've been afforded the opportunity to avoid the thread. As it is, I came in wanting to help someone with a technical problem, instead I have to read about shit in the real world that I come here to avoid.

Sure, compulsion to reply is a bad thing, but we all have it, it is the reason this thread has two pages of replies.

I don't mean to imply that you're an uncaring person or whatever. I think emotions were running a bit high. I also agree that the thread's title could have been more definitive and then some people would have just decided they didn't want to read it. I suppose the poster thought about that and to avoid an empty thread, thought this would provoke more interest and debate and if he genuinely thought of that then it worked like a charm as we all scrap it out in here !

well, I'm done with it, I agree with the posters sentiments but that's just my opinion. Everyone else is entitled to theirs. Took my chill pill so now I ain't
