Impulse Tone issue?
Hey folks whats up?
hving a problem loading samples ( 1 hit drum hits )into the impulse.
heres whats happens , im in sessions view, have impulse on a midi channel, then going through my kick drums in a folder, soon as i load or drop a kick into the impulse it sounds different, like its shaving off the lower frequency of the sample, Now if drop the same kick in the arrangement view sounds normal, I cant figure out if its the settings on the impulse or something beyond that .
Any help would be appreciate, or someone could upload a normal impulse for me grab.

You are prob droping in a sample to a non empty cell, wich allready has some non default settings in envelopes, filter, pitch or whatever and that's changing your sound.
Drop it in a blank inpulse instrument instead.
nope i always start a fresh impulse , then try to revert the settings back to normal & get the same problem, wtf.
This is driving me nuts i have over 50 ableton asl. files that uses impulses soo far ive checked 10 of them and they all do the same thing.
Has anybody founda solution to this problem yet?

I wouldn't say it's a bug per se, but you're not the first person to notice this.

I have complained about this also..
the preview of samples in the Browser applies a start fade to the sample..
which is ok for loops, but cuts off about 5% of a one shot..
to try for yourselfs (preferably with a 808 like Kickdrum)
- preview sample in the browser: bbmmm
- in Impulse: tsbbmmm
- sample in Session: bbmmm (which has a fade by default)
- sample in Session: tsbbmmm (fade set to off)
so this is not a bug but a feature..
I think this should be corrected with an option in the prefs to set it to 'no fade'..
highly annoying..

yes, also,hoffman2k wrote:Turn off warping for one shots?
Warping is the main cause of making a difference during preview.
You can turn it off in live's prefs.
but this one is really the issue as I described above..
especially with kick/bass like sounds that have just a tiny high pitched click at the start..

I dont think its the " unwarp 1 shot" feature,i have that on.
Poster Knows exactly what im talking about, its becoming more of a impulse issue than a warping. Ive made a little test with impulse not interily sure if this will work for everone but here goes.
Loaded 2 sets of 1 shot kick drum samples , 2 midi with impulses of the same 2 set kicks, Now all you do is hit play in arrangement view, start with " audio kick1" solo each of them to notice the difference between the audio kicks in session view & the impulse . Try these out for yourselves and see, thanks for help.

it's not an Impulse problem..twistedfusion wrote:I dont think its the " unwarp 1 shot" feature,i have that on.

please read what I described above..
it's the 'fade' in the clip properties and the fade at previewing the sample in the browser that's causing the difference..
the fade that's applied when previewing has to go..
at least we have to get this option in the preferences..

Impulse is not part of the problem..
So the sound of your samples in Impulse is the 'real' sound of the samples..
The problem is that previewing the sample in the browser 'alters' the sound with a start fade, therefore cutting of a tiny part of the sample..
What you can do is adjusting the sample start in impulse a bit..
This is almost the same as what the browser does with the fade..
double click the sample clip in session or arange..twistedfusion wrote:and where is this " fade " option in the clip properties that your talkign about ?
at the bottom of your screen you see the 'Sample' property box..
it's the middle icon of the Hi-Q/ Fade/ RAM buttons..
