Midi control - How to Arm & rec 'CURRENT' Track & cl
Midi control - How to Arm & rec 'CURRENT' Track & clip???
How do i setup my midi foot switch with Ableton live to to Arm & record 'CURRENT' Track & clip???
Each time i setup a new track, Midi or Audio, i have to Re-Setup my midi mapping Arm, record, Stop for this very new track. And then if i want to record a new clip in a previous track i have to delete the old mapping then resetup again a new mapping for this track.
or maybe i'm using live the wrong way!

You must save it as template in the preferences.

Vakis, I don't think that is what Carignan is asking.
Carignan, I think you want to have one physical button control the record arm toggle of whatever track is selected in Live. I am unaware of a way to do this within Live, but you might check out the helper app called controlaid at charlie-roberts.com - free, and you can get the effect you are looking for.

chrysalis33rpm Not exacly.
Here is my current drill ( you will agree with me, thats is a pain )
Step 1 - Create an audio track .
Step 2 - Setup track propriety, vst, params, effects ... ect
Step 3 - Switch to Midi mapping editor mode
Step 4a - Map "Track Arm" to my midi controller Button 1
Step 4b - Map "Clip 1 record" to my midi controller Button 2
Step 4c - Map "Track Stop" to my midi controller Button 3
Step 5 - Arm the track (button 1)
Step 6 - start record a clip ( button 2 )
Step 7 - done! stop record ( button 3 )
Now if i change track to record something else
Step 5 - Create an audio track .
Step 6 - Setup track propriety, vst, params, effects ... ect
Step 7 - Switch to Midi mapping editor mode
Step 8 - ( Delete what i did at step 4a b and c )
Step 9a - Map "Track Arm" to my controller Button 1
Step 9b - Map "Clip 1 record" to my controller Button 2
Step 9c - Map "Track Stop" to my controller Button 3
Step 10 - Arm the track (button 1)
Step 11 - start record a clip ( button 2 )
Step 12 - done! stop record ( button 3 )
and so one....
if i had Midi mappable functione like
"Arm Current Track" to midi controller Button 1
"Record Current Clip" to midi controller Button 2
"Stop Current Track" to midi controller Button 3
it would save me alot of steps.
Is there a way to do this in Live?

OK look theres 2 ways of going about it.
The first is to use what's provided in live. Say you use 8 tracks. Then to do what you want, you'll need 2 banks of 8 buttons each - one to start and stop recording, and one to arm the track. If you bring up the midi map editor, you'll notice that an extra row of "play" triangles comes up at the bottom of each track (above the mixer). A button mapped to this triangle will start/stop whatever clip is highlighted in the track at that moment.
The second way is to use a helper app like control aid, which lets you use the same button to control the same parameter but on different tracks. This is a little more complicated, but can be a very efficient way to use your buttons. Instead of needing 16 buttons to control your 8 tracks, you'd only need 2 plus a knob to select your active track.
