This album, ever since it came out, has always been amongst my favorites . I can't wait for their new album, which should be out this year. I think this album would have an even higher level of respect if they had released more material over the years.

Really interesting thread this, since i'm a fan of pretty much every band that has been mentioned and all for different reasons. To me, Portishead and Massive Attack are the sound of part of my life, as is Bjork and DJ Shadow, and more recently Lamb in the latter and final stages of their career. All great for different, but worthy reasons.

A friend recently introduced me to an unsigned band from Glasgow by the name of Cinephile - their sound totally knocked me out. They mention many of the above as their influences and whilst i can hear bits of all i feel that they have their own unique sound going on.

And yeah, the live performance is just as iconic. Right up there with the beatles playing on the roof top.

'dummy' is a great album, for sure. did anyone hear the beth gibbons & rustin' man album? that's class too, but totally different to portishead.

her website says she is currently working on the next portishead album!

You would not be referring to this album, "World Gone Wild" would you? After listening to this album in a music store, I could not say no to purchasing it. It was filed under "Dubstep" but definitely feels more like it would appeal more to triphop/electro-acoustic heads. Fantastic album!!
