I wanna play mashup -- digital acapella and instrumentals??

Post by softserv » Fri Jun 08, 2007 6:11 pm

I hereby reveal my ignorance.

Who knows where to find digital acapella and instrumentals online? I want to do some mash ups but don't have a turntable that can export to my computer (in fact no turntable at all currently since I'm ditching my crap numark belt-drives), so I can buy 12 inches. Is there some magic site replete with acapella and instrumental downloads? If not, where do you find yours?

Thank you!

You're so right, it's ridiculous. I posted in the "mashup" forum (because you're required to post in the forum and wait 10 days before you can download!) to ask where on the web to find instrumentals. Then the post was moved to a different forum because the moderators decided it was too specific, then the thread was locked because there's a rule "no requesting instrumentals/acapellas"! But I didn't request anything, just asked where to find them. GAH.

But I don't know where else to look, so I'm hoping to last on the site long enough without breaking some mystery rule to actually download some stuff.

I know this is happening less and less but try looking on CD singles, come of them still include instrumentals and acapellas. I guess you could say it's digging in the digital crates.

Here is a link to for you. http://www.beastieboys.com/remixer/

you may have already tried there though - cannot really find any sites that dont want you to upload your own or pay.

Here's a massive torrent (4 gb) of a capellas, not too legal of course...

http://home.arcor.de/riota/Massive4GBAc ... ck.torrent

Ranges from cheesy RnB hits to obscure house classics, has a couple of gems in there.

hmm, I might try that torrent myself actually.

Also, if you have an itunes account type in 'a capellas'. you will have to pay 79p (GBP in my case) though. lots of hip hop. i couldn't find anything that took my fancy.

the beatie boys web site is a good place to start!

good luck

@ Nobbystyles:

Hehe, but in their defence they have improved their registration process a lot. I think that probably, like most other forums of forum they will have no doubt had SPAMMERS posting crap in the past, the site is huge so the quantities must have been large.

A lot of visitors don't realise that simple fact of owning a forum. They don't do it on purpose to make it difficult.

@ SoftServ:

From what I believe now, they took off their post restriction but they still have a 10-day wait, which is fair enough seeing that they have over 48,000 members and most probably have to 'roll-out' access to the files on a daily basis - hence the 10 day wait.. Certainly worth waiting for imho.

/me hugs acapellas4u
