noob question

Hey guys. I'm a bit new to Ableton and I'm struggling to find a way to do this...

I'm using Live to record some guitar samples. They are short choppy reggae chords and ultimately my goal is to sample about 10 or 15 different chords and be able to trigger them with my keyboard. I want to be able to press a certain key for a certain chord so I can basically "play" my guitar with the keys. I've got all my samples recorded and I'm guessing I want to drop them into a sampler. I tried using the simpler first but quickly realized you can't have more than one sample. So then I started messing around with the Live sampler. I see you can multisample which I'm guessing is what I'm trying to do. Am I on the right track here? I was able to get multiple layers into the sampler but I don't understand how to assign each sample to a different key.

Any help at all would be so greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

Sampler, a rack of simplers or just put the samples into different clips in the same track (so they mute each other)

or

record one guitar chop
hit midi learn
select your clip
HOLD DOWN one note on your midi keyboard
tap another note up higher
turn off midi learn
play your keyboard

So I get all the samples I need into different layers in the Sampler. Why is it that all of the samples play at the same time when I press a key?

If I'm too far behind to have this make sense, no worries. I'm sure I'll get it eventually. Thanks again!

You have to set key zones to keep them from overlaping in a rack. You can use a rack with multiple Simplers. You could use one instance of Sampler. If you already own Sampler, I would use that. It will me much easier to make adjustments...

Setting the root notes in Simpler is a bitch.
