Basic Q - Live 6.07 - Arrangement view - 1st track no play?

Post by groovebox » Fri Jun 08, 2007 10:40 pm

Hi all - this is probably a real dufus problem but...

Live 6.07 is 100% fine in clip view - switch to Arrangement view - drag clips from the Live Browser - resize them a bit and when I hit Play...nothing happens...

Let me explain better - if I drag a clip into Track 1 it drags over just fine - when I click Play - it almost appears to "ghost out" - if I then drag that clip further down (say into Track 3 or 4) same thing.

But if I drag the clip from the Browser directly into Track 3 or 4 and hit Play - it plays just fine.

It's almost like there is a configuration setting in Track 1 that is doing this.

When it ghosts out - it goes 'grey' and then when I hit Stop - it returns to normal 'color'.

I am using a plain old Mac G4 tower - and I had a scan of the manual and this should not be happening.

When I compare the settings (expanded) on Track 1 (the one that greys out) and say a clip on Track 3 (the one that plays just fine) - I see a Master/Slave switch - which I have never played with in my life - even when I make the Track 3 settings the same as Track 1 - problem still exists.

Every major version of Live I say "I must try Arrangment view" and then run into this - please note this happens on either my WinXP PC or my Mac G4...

Even when I reinstall Live and don't have any interfaces plugged in...?

Sorry for the length of this post.

If any one can point me to the right forum topic or page number I'd be grateful!

There is a button called 'return to arrangment' or 'back to arrangement'

hit that.

it is lit up red with some horizontal lines.

The reason that Track 1 is behaving differently than the other tracks is that you have played a clip in the session view on that track. Therefore the Arrangement is disabled in favor of the Session for that track.
