I'm not so sure about that. I am new to this as well, but from what I understand OSC is simply a plus. What I understand this to mean is that we will now be able to interact with under-the-hood features of live, and do things that could not be done before. I have a feeling that I can write some minimal apps (if they don't exist already) that will translate midi commands through max into osc, if needed.

Max is the closest thing to a programming language I know. I dabbled in C and C++ for a brief period of time. This is all very new to me.

QUESTION:
1) I am under the impression that this will only work on a PC right now. Will it run under bootcamp? I actually haven't fired that up yet between performances, installations and moving.

If this is possible will look into trying things out in the near future. Just about finished moving into my new studio and I'm currently really geeked about "new media" related projects.

If not, I will wait until I get a cheap pc. Been planning on it anyway.

I will work under Bootcamp.

When you boot you McBook into Windows using Bootcamp, it's a PC. The only difference is the stuff that you don't have Windows drivers for...
Suit #1: I mean, have you got any insight as to why a bright boy like this would jeopardize the lives of millions?
Suit #2: No, sir, he says he does this sort of thing for fun.

well, that was really in response to his saying he didnt want to get into it too deeply

and what I understood the thing most people were getting excited about was sending clip names back to a controller - but I know nothing about this either - just when I've asked what I can use it for that's the answer I've tended to get

Obviously the point of this is to allow people to finally check their emails without having to switch out of live.

is it possible (and allowed?) to decompile the .pyc files which are in the Ableton midi scripts folders?

I had a quick try at opening one in emacs but it looked a real mess

i used the debian decompyle package (installed on ubuntu) and it works great.

so far it look like the RemoteSL code is the most interesting.
