" Help with the motu ultra lite interface"

Hello,

Just purchased the motu ultra lite interface, after installing all the drivers ( and I did receive the " new device is ready to used" message,

I went into live 6's preferences and updated the audio to asio , changed the settings,etc. but never received any readings from the motu front panel when I hit a key , or impulse ,etc. I cant get any sound from the monitors.

I have a dual core 4 gig pc system designed by rain recordings,

any help or direction would be greatg and thanks ahead of time!

once you do hear sound, i'm afraid thats when the nightmere really begains. You're just experiancing the trailer to the real scary stuff.

I know I am most likely just missing something minro or maybe checked or uncheked something I shouldnt have.

I am going to call motu and see if they can help as well

i had bad luck with my first Ultralite, and the one I am currenty using creates MIDI nonsense if pushed to hard, but if I use it only for audio it runs like a charm and sounds great.

but: the fact that you have to register in a tedious process just to download a new driver from their website and the fact that you get no answer to a friendly mail to support regarding this not very customer friendliy behaviour at all....

Well I just bought it yesterday but I never heard any bad remarks or reviews on it yet.

I heard the sound from it is great and very warm so hopefully I can get it to work soon!

Posted similar info in another thread:

You may need to update to the latest firmware/software: 1.1.5 is firmware and for Windows 3.6.7.4 is software (drivers and cuemix), you need to register your product on their site in order to do downloads. (and yeh, it's a little tedious to register just to do driver downloads).

With your current software, if you set your audio outputs to 11/12 in the Master pretty sure this will give sound through your mains. That has been a speed bump for pretty much every new Ultralight user that's posted here, it seem. Because of this, I believe that at this point MOTU's latest CueMix has altered the routed so that you don't need to specify 11/12 anymore.

They do send out a standardized support email (try this, then this, then this) and it is a little off-putting. Not all companies are as personable as Ableton

. But, if you have the latest firmware and drivers and you follow what they have, it likely often solves the problem.

It is kind of a drag that pretty much every audio interface (particularly Firewire) seems to come with drivers in the box that need to be updated right away-- "out of the box" experiences are rare.

But we are smart and manly computer music making men. If we wanted something that worked out of the box we'd buy a guitar

See that knob on the front panel of the Ultralite that says "MAIN VOL" ?

I have a MOTU Traveler and Fireface 800. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. RME seems to have more stable drivers overall. MOTU at least is able to ping external instruments properly. The Traveler (and perhaps the Ultralite is this way) can be more easily used without a computer (a mixer, if you will).

As mentioned above, trying using outputs 11/12 as the main outs.

Ill try , and I have the main volume knob up to 0 db's- which I think is the highest it goes.

Whats strange is I used the foccusrite saffire for two years and never had a problem, ahh whoi knows I guess.

But I appreciate the help
