The site requires that you be logged in to activate the downloads. Once logged in the title bar & black zip package will be the download link.

Yeah... I should have explained this better on the site. Its in the todo list!

I'm experiencing a little trouble with the registration system on the site... and seems like I have to activate some accounts manually until I get this sorted out.

So if any of you DON'T receive the registration confirmation email just PM me here with the your info & user name you registered with and I'll activate your account manually. Apologies for the inconvenience.

Best Regards!

Hello all! Sorry about all the issues! This is F!CKED!

Sure as shit someone has hacked my site. For the life of me I still can't figure out why people would do shit like this. This site serves no other purpose than to serve the music community and Ableton users... just gives me the shits to think someone would even bother hacking a site like this. I mean what is the point???

Pisses me off to no end... after all I did all the design and development myself. And I'm NO web developer... Duh!... just a musician/ educator trying to provide a worthy service to others.

If any of you have web development skills and would like to assist in getting the site back up and SAFE from moles... I'd really appreciate it! And it would benefit everyone here (those interested in new racks and sample packs anyway).

Again my sincere apologies for the mess. Shame cause I was hours away from releasing my new rack... The Elektron MachineDrum SPS-1uw Rack Pack with over 90mb worth of samples from the SPS-1uw. But some wanker had to put a wrench in that plan! So until this gets resolved it won't be released.

no worries mate - it sucks big time! some people obviously have very little to keep em occupied i guess...

hope you get it back together soon, that machinedrum pack sounds REALLY good! unfortunately my web skills are pretty much what you see here, so hopefully someone around here can sort you out.

The latest...

I've removed the garbage that has been put in place of my original index page which was causing all the flashing "you've been hacked" crap. So thats been repaired ok.

It appears that was the only file that had been altered but I'm still looking through stuff. Until I'm certain and take some extra security measures the site will be off line.

It will be back up soon I hope... I'm excited to hear what everyone thinks about new SPS-1 rack.

Again if any of you have web skills and would like to offer any assistance I'd really appreciate it.

Cheers

did the hacker cracked your passwort on your server or on a outside server?
or did he came through your site to the source?

Appears as if he/she/they only were only able to alter the code on my index page. If fact replace the file completely. Had loads of code in there so for all I know that code contained scripts for doing god knows what. I repaired the index file quite quickly and the site is running ok on the back end and in the tests I've done, however I won't make the site live again till I feel better about its security. I haven't been able to find any other pages that have been altered or missing. My server side seems secure at this stage... unless this hacker is waiting for a better opportunity to humiliate me again. I've contacted my host to see if I can find out more.

Again, I can't understand the mentality behind even bothering hacking a site like Defeq. I mean like I said its only purpose it to provide a resource for independent artists and Ableton users. The site makes no money at this stage, only costs money... and an immense amount of my time. I do it because I enjoy making gadgets and instruments in Ableton and enjoy sharing that with others. Its my goal for Defeq to be a vast resource of Ableton presets, sample packs, racks and instruments... a collaborative effort by Ableton enthusiasts. A place for people to share their ideas, creations and music... and potentially, if they are really good creations, sell them. If Defeq were some global domination corporate master mind organization (thats GDCMMO for short) set out to rob the the creative will from the people or some ass backwards greedy government agency robbing peoples free rights... then I could understand why someone would hack it. I'm completely dumbfounded that someone would be this petty though. And to trash something which is a service to people.

99% of hacks are based solely on the exploitable software. script kiddies want to inflate their number of defacements. This of it as post-count for the script kiddie world.

They probably didn't even look at your site. Just scanned for old installs of your software then scripted the defacement.

Update your software (and keep it updated) and you shouldn't need to worry.

Back to the matter at hand: where is the download? I'd love to try it.
