Poll: Forum moderators
LOL Red Stripe!!!
We are all moderators. Dinsync your approach is interesting, break the forum so it has to be fixed. The funny part is that I think you're driving home the exact opposite behavior, you're teaching people how to ignore inflammatory posts, which leads to better self moderation and lessens the need for a more active role from Ableton.
I'd be interested in mercyplease's take on this, as he's worked directly with the Abes on changing his behavior, or however he wants to look it.
I lean towards moderation just for the obvious stuff and to remind some people at times that they need to chill out and grow up. There are people who actively try to piss users off, push their buttons, get under their skin, but they have no cred in the end and so we, the moderators ignore him.

In my life
Why do I smile
At people who I'd much rather kick in the eye?

That is a much nicer way of putting it than some of us (ok, in this case that would be me)Tone Deft wrote:LOL Red Stripe!!!

One single username per user would at least stop the annoying multi ID idiots who pollute this place.

Well, it is my only login and what, according to you is it that I was doing when I first showed up?leisuremuffin wrote:
no, i don't believe that KS is your only login. I've been here long enough to remember what you were doing when you first showed up.
I can remember my first post quite clearly. DJRetard posted some music and he wanted feedback. I gave my honest diplomatic opinion and backed it up and yet for some reason, he took my comments badly and misunderstood what I had written. After a few exchanges of me clarifying my views I was deemed a troll.
Out of curiosity, I had a look at my posts. I don't see what is so bad about them. I am generally polite, not abusive and I tell it how I see it with quite solid arguments to support my views. They are just opinions, but some people just don't like being disagreed with. As simple as that. So I am a "troll" because I don't agree with the stalwarts of this forum? I say reassess your attitude to how you react to "harmless posts made by some anonymous member of an internet forum?" Why get so wound up?leisuremuffin wrote: adonis, you might want to have a look at what keyser posts here. just have a quick look thru his post history.
So leisuremuffin, out of curiosity, I read a few of your posts and I would say you are far more obnoxious than me judging by some of the things you have written to some forum members. To paraphrase an old adage:
"look at the log in your own eye before pointing out the speck in someone else's.

i don't know why i'm even responding, but i will.
I know i can be an asshole sometimes. But i'm an asshole who knows a thing or two. See, the difference between me and you is that i actually contribute positive stuff to the forum as well. Please dig up even one post of yours where you help someone with a live related problem or bring usefull information to an "on topic" discussion. Even if you can, i'm sure the ratio of bullshit drama to useful information is quite low.

I don't think I contribute negative stuff. I just disagree with people ( in a polite and civil manner may I add) and somehow that deems me a troll.leisuremuffin wrote: See, the difference between me and you is that i actually contribute positive stuff to the forum as well.
Plus, I am not here to provide support. As I said in an earlier post, I don't visit these pages often or make that many posts (look at the post count). So while I am waiting for things to get done, I browse this forum and on the odd occassion I make a post, I don't feel any altrusitic urge to help people out with technical issues. So does that make me a "bad person"? Loads of others provide support and usually faster than I could anyway.
So now, what is your gripe this time? The fact that I am not helpful enough or that there isn't moderation for people "like me"? You've changed the parameters in this "discussion". In fact, my bullshit ratio is still less than yours. To repeat, look at my post count, look at yours and compare how many times I am obnoxious and abusive compared to the times you are. There is no contest. You are a bigger arsehole than me and your posts verify it.leisuremuffin wrote: Please dig up even one post of yours where you help someone with a live related problem or bring usefull information to an "on topic" discussion. wow you're a debate all star.
cool, i just come in here and casually post too.
again, i'll remind you that the difference is that more than half of what i post about is live or music. If i'm an asshole every now and then, that's because i'm a complete fucking nutjob, as are about 70-80% of the other musicians i've met.
What the fuck is your excuse for coming here almost exclusively to disagree with people in an aggressive and unpleasant manner? When i do it, it's the exception rather than the rule. That is my point.
i have never "changed parameters" of the discussion. I have simply stated that i do not belive your claim that KS is your only login, and that i believe tht the only moderation we need is the elimination of phony accounts used *solely* to annoy people. like yours.

As I've said before. You are 100% right. I'm not posting about ableton. I'm just piling on. I've not disagreed with you on that.leisuremuffin wrote: now have a look at your post history. If dinsync is really your only login, you have absolutely no right to tell anybody else here what is wrong with the forum, because YOU are it. If you have another login, as i believe you do, then you are a coward and should post what you think about the forum under your "respectable" login.

Thanks. I have always been pretty good at debating and I can write a pretty mean argumentative essay too.leisuremuffin wrote: wow you're a debate all star.

Hmmm..... casually post. Your post count last time I looked was 2247 compared to my now 156. So you are saying you casually post. For a start, it is clear we have a different definition of "casual" among other things.
And your point is???leisuremuffin wrote: again, i'll remind you that the difference is that more than half of what i post about is live or music.......
Does joining a forum mean that you have to agree with everyone and that you have to provide support. I don't remember reading that in the conditions of joining.

First of all, I am never to very rarely unpleasant or aggressive and the same goes with regard to my behaviour towards anyone on this forum. Even when I am abused, I still maintain civility. On the otherhand, you are rude and obnoxious quite regularly. So as I said before, that makes me a better person than you. I challenge you to find a post I have made where I am obnoxious to others and that the abuse was started by me. You would be hard pushed because no such post exists. Sure I have written a few coarse remarks, but only when the other party started the crap. Good luck in your search if you can be bothered.
I have every right to be here as much as anyone else. I own the software, so why not be a forum member (albeit a member who rarely posts) So what's it to you I have joined this forum and make the odd post now and then? Are you lord of the manor or something that I have to justify myself to you?
There you go again. Making false assumptions and holding false beliefs. I can assure you this is my only login, but you don't like me telling you this because your universe has been disrupted by something that according to you "does not compute". You think a certain thing, so it must be right. How narrow minded and egocentric!!!! And yes, you have changed the parameters. Re-read what you wrote. Or is this another case of crap reading comprehension skills. You don't want me here because I upset your very small and limited universe and perspective on life.leisuremuffin wrote:

I post all the time - I have well over 4 thousands posts - granted I joined the forum 34 millin years ago way back in 2004 but that's just me
you two have valid points -
I've never read anywhere that Keyser actually went out and called someone stupid, a cunt, a heeb, jew etc etc
I can't say that for leisure - as some of those nasty words were directed towards me
even though you're focusing on post counts keyser they're kind of irrelavent (how many you have, or have not)
I have hella posts - about a 1/3 are dedicated to a cartoon i used to watch, another 1/3 are random posts about Africa, hip hop and stupid replies in stupud threads about stupid shit and the other 1/3 is actually related to music (mine, someone elses, collabing etc etc)
so do I belong here? Maybe not, maybe so - do you? Of course you do, does leisure, of course...it's what makes the forum what it is
if everyone thought like me, you or leisure that'd be weak -and since we're all different we're going to disagree
but it's idiots who take the advantage of disagreeing with someone and turn that into a opportunity to attack someone <-- that's dumb
I also disagree with stalkers - people who wake up, log on to see what you've written just so they can attack you - it happens to all kinds of people on the forum and it's creepy <---> I feel sorry for their ex girlfriends or boyfriends
but anywayz - aside from the slight jabs at each other it's a interesting conversation <----> a lot more insteresting then the breakfast I just made
peace
