I'm gunna flip through my vinyl when I get home and see how many of your records I have.peeddrroo wrote:hey guys!
just saw this topic...
well, yes, i've released a couple of records on ed banger (i'm "krazy baldhead"), and yes, i use live for my gigs and productions...
regarding the other members of ed rec, i think sebastian uses cubase and some hardware sampler, and justice uses PT and has a bit of analog gear too.
i can't tell you more, as i don't know actually. but there's indeed a lot of compression going on. and yeah, chopping up samples is probably the way to go to have their sound.
on a side note: justice uses Live for their live shows (not DJ set). definitely worth checking, it sounds very good.
i saw daft punk ysterday and they also use live. needless to say, it was awesome.

I spend 99% of my time here when I'm at work, locked behind a strict firewall. I'm pretty much only allowed to go to dealer websites and a few others, like Wikipedia (thank god for that!).aqua_tek wrote:heheh funny how people failed to notice pedro's identity up until now.
It's always been in his sig and in his website link! Goes to show how many people actually pay attention to what goes on in other's sigs unless it's some sort of ridiculous picture
So I have an excuse.

thanks guys for the support.
i actually have been on this board long before "becoming" krazy baldhead (i was already a baldhead though).
so maybe that's why most ppl didn't notice.
anyway, i'm glad you like my music and the music of ed banger.
i think another cool point for this label is to have a strong graphical signature, thanks to SO ME. i really love his work.
a little ed rec promo
: justice 1st album is getting released now, it's really good, and ed banger is about to release the soundtrack of a movie called "Steak", directed by Quentin Dupieux, aka MrOizo.
the soundtrack was made by MrOizo, Sebastien Tellier and SebastiAn, and it is aboslutely awesome.
for those of you who like their poductions, don't miss it, cause it's absolutely worht it.
and to completely finish with the promo
: i have another project called "Donso", that is a mix between african music and electro. our first EP is about to be released on Infiné, another french label.
you can check it out here: www.myspace.com/donso
i talked about this project in a thread about "world music" a while ago. i might as well bump it.
but well, i feel ashamed for hijacking SebastiAn's thread. he definitely deserves one...

Lovely to see how ableton forum can make artists become closer,
I heard about you KB with this ed banger fame wind growng and growing these times, and a quick check to your myspace page was really good (LOVE THOSE BASS !)
Just wanted to say :
I love ed banger releases and artists (not everything I assume), some of Justice 's trax are indeed MARVELOUS, sebastian, oizo... really fun and magical
BUT
1) I'm astonished by those topics willing to RE-produce other artists sounds and styles (I was one of them, and yes, often when listening I wonder "how the hell do they do that?"),
I think useful tips and tricks are important (i.e. seidechaining compression, what samples to use, sample or self create, etc.)
But I think it is really important to keep our singularities,
if you all try to produce justice-like material, that's just another brick in the same wall isn't it?
(I don't want to attack anybody, I precise I am one of you trying to make my sound better and better, and the goal may never be reached ! )
2) For that particular sound:
yes : compression with particular use (lots of useful tutorial on the web)
and perhap's some vst's like suppatrigga ore else...
and this or that DAW...
BUT this will NOT make our music sound like krazy baldhead or feadz, sebastian...
before this compression is beeing all the artistic process of sound designing and composition, personnal feeling, influences (with some samples coming from those probably) and, of course, personnal use of particuliar sound gear (analog or software synths and samplers, keyboards, filters, etc.)
I was first sad to understand that I 'll probably never reach the same sound as é"'(&(§ or =::;'(é or )à&@^$ù.....
BUT indeed that is GREAT, because it makes me work more and more on my sound and progressively make my own (with no pretention I precise, so little I am
If there was a ED BANGER MAGICAL PLUGIN... would you buy it ?
if there was a WARP FX PLUGIN PACK... would you buy it ?
I would be under temptation I guess... but...
KEEP YOUR SINGULARITY
with all respect for you all,
cheers
(I hope my opinion doesn't seem agressive, because I really am not
