I am using LIve ONLY as a VST host for a sampler.
I have my sound card set to at 48k.
Buffer size is 144
I have to set latency at 6ms to have it not click n pop.
I'm assuming that this 6ms that uis shown is essentially the time it takes for the sound to be created, but doe nto reflect any INPUT latency as well.
It all feels rather slow, compared to my hardware sampler. I have some MIDI tracks going straight to synths from another sequencer, and these all need to be delayed to be in time...
My question: Is there also some *MIDI* input latency, added to the 6ms that it takes the sound to be created?
On this machine Live mistakenly shows input AND output latency as 0, and overall also as 0, so I can't tell.
Remember I'm not recording at all - only using Live as a host.

Just to make sur eI understand: you are sending MIDI data from another sequencer to Live. Live hosts virtual instruments, that are played by the received MIDI data. The tracks in Live have monitor set to IN, and you don't record the data, you just use Live as an instrument?
If so, you should only be subject to the soundcard's latency. Depending also the setting for the plugin latency, that you can set in the CPU tab of the Preferences. It also depends on which plugins you use. Some introduce bigger latencies (convolution devices and so on..)

Yes, that is right.
I can see the soundcard latency is listed at 6ms.
Under CPU, "as audio buffer" is that latency added to the 6ms, so it's an effective 12ms?
The issue only matters because I have some hardware synths also being played, so to have them all in sync I need to delay the hardware to be in sync.
