Hi,
I am new to this whole VST thing, but it is much more convenient to run VSTs in live than having a bunch of external synths on a rack. One thing I haven't figured out is how to do presets.
For some VSTs, all factory presets are handled via the GUI. However, if you find and dl any presets even if you put them in the same folder as the VST you have to manually load them using the folder icon on the VST viewer at the bottom. This isn't so bad but if I load in for one VST, then that becomes the default folder for all VSTs, this is kind of a pain when switching back and forth.
2 questions:
1. Am I missing something obvious about how to handle presents?
2. Should I just create a single preset folder and dump ALL presets in that folder?

Managing presets in VSTs
my default vst folder goes as this:
C:\Program Files\Steinberg\Vstplugins which contains the following
subfolders:
Equalize and mastering
Effects
Instruments
All my dll's are installed in these folders according to their kind and use
So my advise is to change the default path of installion during the installation
and choose one of the 3 subfolders to install to.
I got some more subfolders in each folders (specific use, company name, etc)
Not saying this is the best way but it keeps me from wasting time
looking for a specific dll
Good luck
