Live running EXTREMELY slow from start-up (Mac-User)
Hi, has anyone else had this problem with their Mac???
When I open Live, it starts initializing etc. Then when Live opens the new set, the Mac starts making a noise like it's about to take off and it all starts running very slowly.
You drag a clip in, that spinning coloured disc goes and you have to wait about 30 secs before the clip is shown in the session view! And don't get me started on the opening times on a saved set!
Does anyone have any ideas on what might be causing this? I'm gonna end up throwing the thing out the window, I swear!

try making a new user account on the mac and install live in it if it isnt aready shown and see if it does it there.. Thats always the number solution to figuring what the heck is going on (aprat from repair permissions of course)

Live 6,
Even if you don't use those plug ins in the set, Live still scans tthem when it first loads. MIght be worth removing the plugs to your desktop real quick and trying then.

Thinking on it again the best way is to keep your powerbook and hold the T key down when you boot it so it goes into target mode. you will nee a firewire cable to be plugged between both units BEFORE doing this The powerbook will come up with a firewire symbolDeeJayBudd wrote:Thanks, I'm kind of new to the Mac, but I'll definitely give both those a go!
I'll let you know if that sorts it, cheers guys.
now boot the macbook pro and the powerbook will be seen as a new hard drive on your desk and you can copy over what you want... the apple discussions on www.apple.com will have some threads on this and how to best back up and restore your emails and adress book etc.. alot can be simply dragged and dropped across but going from a PPC system to an intel you can image there is a huge amount of difference in some of the software. Any apps you do drag across make sure you hold apple and I key or choose get info from the menu and check to see if these apps are PPC or Intel or universal.. any PPC apps will run ike dogs .. you can also pop up the activity monitor in the applications/utiities folder and check to see under the "kind" column what any running apps are again anything that is PPC should be upgraded to a universal binary which shows as intel in that column of course only runnings apps will show under activity monitor.
