Getting that french sound!

Working on a track, using a few loops and my own bass line,. I want to get that Stardust - music sounds better kind of sound to it. Any ideas?

Reduced sampling rates (with redux) and some cheap compression over entire mix.

If you want to get that french sound, you should start to speak english or american with that "outrageous accent", just like in "holy grail" by the monty python.

sidechaining, flangers, phasers, oh and the odd playing around with some filters never hurts

Saw those crazy guys for the first time in about 10 years on Saturday. Bloody brilliant.

Right, sorry to hiijack thread. Yeah, I think pumping compression over the whole mix, or at least much of it is kind of key to the sound of that stardust track.

the KEY to the French sound is side-chain compression... and the the sound of cowardly footsteps running from the fury of freedom fries.
