For DJs: How do you best perform from your laptop?

Post by beatnik » Thu Jun 21, 2007 10:47 am

I've been using Live a while now, but I always have the thought in the back of my mind that I could be better organized. Touch wood, I have never had Ableton Crash on me, but I just want to see how others in the community run their ableton set.

At the moment, I have a Mac Mini and a MacBook, though the MacBook is what I use for Live and also my primary computer. Do most of you find this isn't a problem, or do you prefer to have a dedicated computer/user account just for Ableton?

(I was considering using the macbook just for live, but the portability of the macbook outweighs it a lot of the time anyway)

I also use iTunes to organize my tracks, but again, as my MacBook is mostly my main machine - I find myself sometimes a little overwhelmed when I am looking for tracks. Do any of you keep a dedicated iTunes Library for your tracks, or prefer to use playlists, smart playlists and folders?
MacBook / 2GB / 120GB / M-Audio Audiophile FW / X-Session Pro. Looking for a UC16!
