Hello. I'm trying to set up my midi controller (M-audio Axiom 25) with Live. Whenever I make a knob assignment it doesn't reappear when I open live - what am I doing wrong? The assignments work, but not when Live is relaunched.
Do I have to save every Live set just to keep basic assignments like record, stop, play, Impulse controls, and so on?
Also, the keyboard doesn't play any notes in any of the instruments. How can I 'activate' it so that it does this?
Thanks a lot for any help on this one.
Midi assignments don't save.

there are two ways of using a controller with Live:
1. Using custom MIDI remote control, as you did I guess. You enter the mapping mode using the MIDI button in Live, and make your assignements manually. In the MDI Preferences, the only thing you need to enable for that are the 'remote' buttons for the input and output ports you use for the controller.
These assignements are saved with the set only. So, what you could do is make your assignments and if you want to have the same in every new set, you can save the set as a template, via the Preferences, File/Folder.
2. Using MIDI remote scripts. You can use these scripts via the MIDI Preferences, by choosing one of the controllers in the 'control surface' tab of the Preferences, and choosing the right MIDI ports. These scropts are 'fixed', meaning that things are already assigned to some elements of the software, and can only be used with special controllers, or with the generic script, if you configure your controller. This remote control feature has the advantage that you do not have to assign anything by hand, and they are available for any new set you open. They have the disadvantage that you do not choose exactly your mappings.
