Just thought I'd put up a poll to see what percentage of Mac/PC users we have.
Only vote for the machine(s) you use for music (ie if you have a PC for office stuff, but use a Mac for Ableton, just check Mac.)
This is Not a debate about which is better!

Brilliant.
This is a sample of people who'll respond to your poll.
If you're genuinely curious (and I seriously doubt that you are) go count up users by OS in the performance thread. Then tally the the "post your setup" thread and account out results from peeps who've posted to both. If you're not
that curious, then you're just another jackoff flamebaiter.

Well of course I am, why else would I have put the thread up?

I presume you are trying to provoke a response in the hope I look like I'm instigating a flame war. What a nice welcome to the forum!
Just to reiterate...

or is this just a 'lets pick on the newbie' response?

it's too bad you can't disable responses but allow the poll, because it's almost inevitable that there will be flames.
anyway, i'm not surprised by the results so far. The majority of people i know who make music with computers use macs. Almost everyone i know that performs with a laptop in their rig uses a mac. Almost every recording studio i've walked into uses macs. I'm not saying macs are better, i'm just posting my observations.

I use a PC. I find the Win OS so much more manageable and user friendly than the Mac OS.

i use windows because im broke.. i used to want a mac until the new mac pc ads.
i never really looked at apple as a bunch of corporate assholes (just like microsoft) until the spamming of my tv with there hipster ads.
if it wasnt for my hate of corporations i would still want a mac pretty bad.
now i just dont care.
its like democrat vs republican. i think they both are full of shit.
so... i guess my vote would be both?

I use a PC Sony Vaio 1.83 duoCore which my Computer Hardware instructor says is the worst laptop you can buy - I scowled at him
but we agreed it has the most awesome screen you could ever look at
I've had 2 Macs in the past
no real reason other than some plug-ins and price points I use a PC today
so PC

I like Macs and might go the mac route when I replace my laptop in a year or two, but my Dell Inspiron 9100 has been an awesome multimedia workhorse for 2 and a half years and has never let me down and at the time I considered getting a G4 powerbook but the Dell smoked it completely, had 512 MB more ram, a better graphics card and cost 350 dollars less, so it was a no brainer at the time.
Of course, that sitiuation is different now, as Apple never got the G5 into a laptop and are now running the same processors as PC, plus stuff like Bootcamp etc makes it easier to cross the divide. Another reason I opted for PC last time is because a lot of my favourite plugins and software such as Soundforge were PC only, and finally, I still feel that Macs are overpriced by around 15-20%. Macs are good but there are good PC alternatives out there too.
As for Ableton being a more popular Mac program - I was expecting that, as it;s volume fo sales is diluted by competition from Project 5, ACID and FL on the PC platform, so imho there was always going to be an overwhelming balance towards Mac.

LOL!
a couple of hours ago when I first saw this I was thinking "not a disscussion, ......oh.....that's stop em" (not that there is anything wrong with the OP)
What a waste.....why do people feel that need to start beating on someone everytime their "precious" cyberspace is interfered with?
