Gday all,
I've forwarded this onto support but I will post this up and see if anyone else has had the same problem in the meantime.
I am running Ableton 6.0.7 on a brand new 8core Mac Pro with 10gig ECC ram, 2 x 500gig hard drives and OS 10.4.9.
All drives/ram and CPU has been tested using Tech Tool Pro 4 (surface scan, stress test etc and all passed) + repaired disk permissions.
After completing a session for a film score on Thursday night, using a Quicktime .mov as reference, everything worked perfectly,
So I saved the session as self contained. On Friday morning when I turned the machine on, I exported everything as stems.
When I checked the files, I found that some files were clicking and popping after the bounce. (buffer setting is normal and shouldnt click and pop on export)
So, I checked the files in the self contained Ableton project folder and they were clicking and popping. Then I checked the original files on a separate hard drive where the originally came from and they played fine.
In the Ableton session, after opening it up again, you could actually see the clicks and pops in the waveforms. To try to get around this, I deleted all the .asd and problem .wav files from the self contained project, loaded the session again, and when Live asked for missing files, I replaced them with the original files from the other hard drive. When it loaded these clips in again, it still showed them as having clicks and pops and continued to click and pop. (the originals still played fine on the other hard drive)
I even tried loading it onto another iMac computer as self contained and repeated the process and it still did the same thing.
After all that, I turned on my Mac Pro later that afternoon and the session fixed itself, so now the same session on my Mac Pro and home is fine and
the session on the iMac here at work is still clicking and popping.
To make things even better, I just checked the iMac here at work today, and now Live has now and added clicks and pops to all files
that previously were fine.
Everything works fine in Logic Pro 7.2.3 it just seems to be in Ableton.
This is a very ghost in the machine style problem.
