if i'm not wrong, the only service provider will be cingular...
that may or may not be a good thing for your business needs.
i have a t mobile blackberry...kind of hate it, but it has service in 90 countries...
it's saving my ass on my current tour...
either way you go, though, it is a tax deduction for work....

I don't like the idea of people staring at their palms watching TV.
But yes, I'd like Safari in my pocket. That would be a-okay.
How much are these AT&T plans anyhow?
2nd or 3rd generation for me.
It'll be hard to cancel my
altruistic wireless plan

Nothing definitive on the plans yet, but the best rumors are saying that it'll be $44.99 for unlimited data, 2000 text/month, and unlimited calls. They're trying to offset the sting of the high cost of entry of the device apparently. If this is true, the iPhone will actually end up being cheaper overall when compared to other smart phones after a few months use.

I agree totally - it kind of looks like a time bomb. plus, from just a couple glances, it looks to be all screen, and I for one really hope they've improved on the ipod screen recipe. those things scratch so easily!massiveheadpain wrote:If you can afford to wait i think it would be worth it. Wait til the hype dies down, wait to see if any problems arise (keep in mind it is a 1st gen apple product) and wait will they increase storage capacity (my guess is 6 months to a year)

It has a glass screen, so no scratching.Chris Paget wrote:I agree totally - it kind of looks like a time bomb. plus, from just a couple glances, it looks to be all screen, and I for one really hope they've improved on the ipod screen recipe. those things scratch so easily!

$499-$599 isn't cheap!
Neither are the plans...
As much as I think it's a cool product, version 2 will be a total killer. I'm waiting. I'll bet the plans go down, too.
Remember the first ipod? It wasn't untill the second generation came around that it really took off. It looked a lot better and functioned better. It also got cheaper.
By the time version two rolls out, you will be able to get service from probably any provider. This will simply reduce the cost.
I feel you though. It would be nice to have an extra $500 floating around...

I am currently in need of a new cellphone, and my main objective is to get one that plays music, so you think I would be all about the iphone? Wrong, I think its a huge ripoff if they dont give out a discount if you extend your plan. I could buy a PS3 with that money, or a computer... With this price, apple is going to find out that A LOT of people can wait....
I don't know cause I'm not in the market, but isn't it priced near enough to similar products (i.e. smart phones)?Wishbone wrote:I am currently in need of a new cellphone, and my main objective is to get one that plays music, so you think I would be all about the iphone? Yes, you could buy a PS3 or a computer, but that's classic apples vs oranges.
