Volume and Tempo problem? What's wrong?

Hi my friends, i'm Pedro, I'm from Portugal and I've been a Live user for about 2/3 years.

1- I have a probem using Live 6, when I mute the drum kick all the other sounds seem to get the volume up.
Why is this happening? Is because of bass frequencies? Any tips to fix this?

2 -Other problem is that it seems sometimes the the tempo/bmp of the music changes!

Is there a "formula" to compression? attack, milisecons etc?
