EMS Synthi A as VSTi

Post by Lux Libra » Wed Jun 27, 2007 11:35 pm

I just discovered the VST emulation of one of my favourite "wanna have" synths. I use the demo since a couple of hours and i have to say this thing ROCKS!!

First i was sceptical about the quality and authenticity of this emulation, but seeing that EMS's Ludwig Rehberg himself was involved in the sounddesign for the presets, i gave it a try. While tweaking, pinning (yeah the 256 pin modulation matrix is great to use) the EMS, i recognized it's Ultrasmooth and thick sound. I can't describe it correct, but this thing keeps my attention for hours. It's been a while since a Softsynth has done so. It has def. a unique sound.

I just wanna told you guys, and recommend everybody who has an approach in interesting, vintage sounddesign, to check the demo out at ----> http://www.emsrehberg.de/SYNTHI__s/synthi__s.html

i also discovered that EMS is only 80 km away from me..........maybe they got some b-stock VCS 3's in the house :) Image

Yeah, the Reaktor one is REALLY great.
I assigned all the knobs to the BCR 2000. Soooooo much fun.

I've wondered about the VST one. It would be interesting to hear from someone who has tried both.

Thanks for the Reaktor one. Will give it a try. Hope it won't be a huge cpu hog, cause i'm slowly reaching the limits of my Laptop.........

the problem i have with these kind of modular softsynths is that it is so easy to get nyquist artefacts. The presets on modular VSTis always avoid doing modulations that generate such frequencies.

Thor in reason 4 does sound pretty good though, although you can hear a lot of filtering going on to try and prevent aliasing
