MIDI I/O overload?
MIDI I/O overload?
If I have Ableton set to receive and send midi controllers, and move a couple of midi faders really fast, I get some kind of zipper sound. If I disable midi out, it works fine.
Running Ableton Live 3, on Windows XP, Dell Inspiron 8200, RME HDSP Multiface and Novation ReMote 25 midi controller.
I tried ReMote 25 with connected over USB or over MIDI to Multiface, but it's the same. Tried to set higher latency and also didn't change anything. If I disable MIDI out on Ableton it forks fine even @ 1.5ms latency.
There's no MIDI feedback loop, because I once made that when using Doepfer PocketDial and the symptoms were totally different :)

I have the same problem with my HP omnibook Pentium III 800MHZ 256Mo.....
It works fine, I can modify effects in real time (using 40% CPU). But When I use a midi controller to change a parameter, The sound bugs....ilke if the CPU was FULL.....
IMPOSSIBLE to synchronize LIVE in MIDICLOCK (in slave position).

grrr...i just found the same problem with my system. MIDI In from Evolution UC-33 USB, MIDI Out to M-Audio Audiophile. Move faders too much or too fast and my CPU jumps to 80%...97%...128%...171%!!! then BAM! i lose MIDI in. Have to restart Live to get it back. If i turn MIDI Out off, everything's fine...oh, except i don't have MIDI Out! well, i'll buy a power cord for the UC-33 tomorrow and try it with standard MIDI In, no USB or USB power.
ah ha! i solved my problem! i only needed the MIDI Out for Clock Sync, so i disabled MIDI Out, but enabled MIDI Sync Ouput to my soundcard's MIDI Out...the problem disappears! so apparently the problem comes from using Live as a MIDI Thru device...with the UC-33 i could use the USB port for power and communication with Live, and use the UC-33's MIDI Out port for communication with a synth or another computer. Since Live doesn't generate it's own MIDI messages anyway, there's no reason to use MIDI Out, right?

1st post! Just bought Live 3 in anticipation of L4 just round the corner.
I also have a Yamaha 01X and have noticed exactly the same CPU overload when using the motorised faders.
<edit> Thought I'd also mention that (a) if I use my UC-33 faders, fader automation works fine, and (b) it works fine if I do not select the 01X MLAN Midi Out in the MIDI output setting. So it looks like it is the feedback of the automated fader position which is causing the cpu / audio stuttering.
Oh yes - I thought I'd also say what an amazing piece of software this is!

Remote25
Hello,
i got the same problem.
I use a PB867 with 1GB and the Novation Remote 25.
So i lay the 8 Faders on the Channel Faders.
When i move more than 2 Faders one stays..
When i mute three channels with switching the Speakerbutton it works correctly.
Only when i pull down three or four Faders quick, one or two of them doesn´t show any reaction...
Is it possible that i need a new driver for the Remote?
What can i do against the Latency to the Audio???
But Finaly......I LOVE LIVE4......
or" i need Live 4 Life"
