Delay on sound

How come when i try to use ableton for effects while djing i get a delay on the speakers,what am i doing wrong :(

its called latency.

you can balance how 'close to realtime' you can get vs the amount of cpu us use.

first up make sure you're using your soundcards ASIO drivers, then go to the preferences and in your audio tab, in your soundcards hardware settings, try adjusting the latency to a lower number.

the aim is get yer latency as low as you can before you hear glitches etc...

Ive done what u said but im still getting a small delay not much but its still a bit tricky 2 work with,is dis normal r should it be perfect ?

yeah thats gonna give u an itsy bitsy delay.

not to mention that if any of your effects downstream of the effect you are affecting introduce latency and this is compensated for with delay compensation (PDC) then that will also add to the gap.

is that using an asio driver?

if not and you are using a laptop, do a search for asio4all

must i save dis program n ableton to use it r will ableton find it its self

Install the software, then it should pop up in Live's audio setup.

install asio4all, then start ableton and in the audio preferences, change the sudio driver to asio4all. It should work ok on the initial settings. You can change the settings if you feel the latency is still too high though
