More new breed artists. I've heard some Aux 88 which was ok, about the same time as Mandroid & Drexcya. but I don't think they touch the original stuff.ScholarlyGent wrote:Since we are listing good "real" electro you cant forget Detroit's Aux 88, DJ Godfather, or DJ Assault.

Sorry, but don't believe a word of thatBrainstormer wrote:Pretty much any sounds are available from any synth with standard elements, (Oscillator/Filter/Envelope/LFO/Ring Mod, etc.)

I agree...Different horses for different courses..whiterabbit wrote:Sorry, but don't believe a word of thatBrainstormer wrote:Pretty much any sounds are available from any synth with standard elements, (Oscillator/Filter/Envelope/LFO/Ring Mod, etc.)
I can pick out alot of Synths from Tracks just by listening as i'm sure most of us here can...
For example...V-Station,Virus,Minimoog in your Face !!!!
By the way that "Cascada" V-Station is really starting to fucking piss me off.

Definitely not new bread unless you consider early/mid 90s new breed. Its definitely not early electro either though. By the way, I was never trying to categorize eras of electro, just throwing out some of what I though had been missed by others. But what do I know, I've just been spinning electro around Detroit throughout the last two decades.Brainstormer wrote:More new breed artists. As far as Aux 88 goes they are hit or miss. They have put out a lot of material, some of it mediocre and then some absolutely awesome. They were also some of the first electro artists to to do live performances (not just spinning records). And yes I know kraftwerk was doing live performances in like 79'.

Mainly because most people are using the known presets!the girl next door wrote:I agree...Different horses for different courses..whiterabbit wrote:Sorry, but don't believe a word of thatBrainstormer wrote:Pretty much any sounds are available from any synth with standard elements, (Oscillator/Filter/Envelope/LFO/Ring Mod, etc.)

If you'd quoted me in full, rather than out of context, you will see my argument still stands:
I could easily program a series of sounds from various well known synths, and you would never guess where they are from.Brainstormer wrote:Pretty much any sounds are available from any synth with standard elements, (Oscillator/Filter/Envelope/LFO/Ring Mod, etc.) Some do certain sounds better than others, but you get to know this after experimenting.

I presume you're on about "Reach Up" ...What stuff did you write in 1992 that beats that?ScholarlyGent wrote:Would they all sound as corny as "raise up"?
*see Brainstormer's myspace page*
and if it's that 'corny' ...why is it selling on Discogs for big money?

Yes I was refering to "Reach Up" and I'm sorry but I cant account for others bad taste.
You seem so miserable throughout this whole thread... I guess "big money" doesn's buy happiness afterall.

I tried to make a little electro demo with maelstrom through my laptop speakers (I'm watching golf on tv) but I don't know / think it came out right - plus it's just 16 bars of the same loop
but this is what I think I'm talking about with the square ones??
http://www.virb.com/djadonis206
but there's some fuller songs on this site http://www.myspace.com/viamusique by me and other artist doing electro house (sort of)
all with reason dawg, reason dawg
peace

I'm not saying that demo is bad but definitely not electro...techno maybe.djadonis206 wrote:I tried to make a little electro demo with maelstrom through my laptop speakers (I'm watching golf on tv) but I don't know / think it came out right - plus it's just 16 bars of the same loop

However, the square wave sounds you used are definitely a contemporary electro standard

Someone comes on and disses a tune you wrote 15 years ago, you're hardly going to be overjoyed.ScholarlyGent wrote:You seem so miserable throughout this whole thread... I guess "big money" doesn's buy happiness afterall.
So Brittney Spears is collectible now? I think not.. Completely erroneous argument, where did I say how many copies of my EP had sold?ScholarlyGent wrote:Oh yeah, and how many albums did Brittny Spears sell?... but she's definietly not corny...
This EP (amongst others) seems to have become collectible over time, and for the record, that's it's secondhand value, I don't make any royalties from secondhand sales
Anyway, the question (which you avoided) was "What stuff did you write in 1992?" I ask this because you clearly have no idea about the scene then, otherwise you'd probably know this tune.
It's a pretty poor show if all you can do is diss the tunes I made 15 years ago! When you can't even tell me what you were doing yourself back then, let alone program a synthesizer now!
Re: best electro soft synth ?
when you say electro, I think subtractive synthesis..Pantytec wrote:appearantly it's been dark for about a year now or so. i hate to use the term electro, because when i think of real electro i think of carl finlow and anthony rother and all them before them. but just for conversations sake..
what do you think has the most electro dark voices out there? it sure wasn't the massive demo i tried. but maybe i didn't dig deep enough...
is there anything that sounds dead on like a fatass or evil'er, soft synth wise? i'm talking studio electronics-evil. macbeth modulars kinda evil i mean.
and a tad 'analogish sound' as well..
I think you'll be doing ok with Minimonsta or any other kicking Minimoog reproduction..
