I think South Park came along and kicked it's ass and I think even Family Guy came along and kicked it's ass. I know some fanboys are going to sound off saying The Simpsons set the groundwork for all other animated prime time shows. So what? That doesn't mean it's the most perfect show ever devised.

I also don't like a lot of the series on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim. You can't turn on any of those shows and just "get it", and it's not because it's highbrow humor. You have to regress your IQ to that of a 7-year-old who is just starting to understand sexual innuendo but still appreciates fart jokes. But I know a lot of people who watch that time block and think it's the greatest thing ever.

What's your opinion on The Simpsons and prime time/adult animation series?
so you like south park, but don't like other cartoons that also make you regress you iq and 'appreciate fart jokes'? on that topic, i can't think of a single adult swim show that has had a fart joke, other than one episode of sealab. honestly, if you don't find most of adult swim's shows funny, you just might have the iq of a 7 year old, because it is some of the sharpest, funniest humor on television.
The person who thinks South Park is all about fart jokes has an iq of less than ;)

you my friend are the inspiration for Terrence and Phillip!!!

People for a few years thought SP was all fart jokes and so Matt and Trey created T & P to demonstrate what farting was all about and if you don't find T & P funny somethings wrong with the funny fuse in your brain

but then again you haven't seen as many epsiodes of SP as many times as me to fully get what they're trying to do

then again I don't even watch SP anymore

Because you've seen all the episodes at least 10 times and new ones aren't coming until october

Been there, done that.

I was waiting for the new boondocks, but i think the creator got too rich and decided not to bother with season 2.

...I still have the Tivo set up to record and keep at least 10 episodes <-- but that's just in case I'm in a pinch

you'd be surprised at how many of my homies JUST want to come over and watch South Park - I always have to have something for them ;)

hmmm, simpsons, i loved them in the late 90's when we got them on normal tv here. i dont really like the well early shows as they just dont make me laugh and i thought the artwork was a bit ropey.
they're only on once a day here (we dont have sky or suchlike) so its a nice surprise when they show an episode i havent seen before. but ive seen some episodes far too many times, like when bart and homer get lost in the woods, or that trampoline one. and i hate the halloween specials.

south park i find either extremely funny or just rubbish. some of the things cartman does and says are amazing, the radiohead episode, the episode where they suck fat out of butters and the dog milk episode spring to mind. but ive seen some of the more recent ones (i think series 10) and i was mostly disappointed. though the sea monkeys one was great.

ive only seen a couple episodes of family guy but im impressed with what ive seen. funny stuff

ren and stimpy i got into when i was travelling round the states about ten years ago and i thought they were brilliant. when ren's teeth fall out and he pulls the nerves out for the nerve fairy 8O christ. i bought a t shirt in chicago - still got it

Regarding the Simpsons..
It only took 18 years till the movie came out
This is the end?

Haven't seen the movie yet, but obviously its Matt Groening's pension plan (like he needs it).
