Howdy. Not so new to making music/noise, but pretty new to recording. I built a new computer (not really for recording, though, as I wasn't planning on being in a kickass band, like I am now, haha) a couple months ago and bought a Creative X-Fi Music sound card. When I plug my dynamic mic into my mic port, and either arm an audio track in Live 6 OR unmute the mic in the Windows/Creative toolbar in Windows XP Pro, the speakers let out a wailing feedback, as if i had my mic right next to the speakers or something.
I can leave the mic "muted" in windows, but still record rough cuts of my band playing (put the mic int he center of the room... i know, poor man's way of doing it, but the only thing we have). But once i go to unmute it, it freaks out. Or if i try to record via ABLETON (which is what i REALLY want to do) w/ the mic, it freaks out once i arm the track.
