Listen to others work and give feedback is a good way to get extra feedback on your own music.
But yes, this forum is pretty pathetic that probably 3/4 posts here go uncommented but maybe it's because we're all too busy creating music with Live to have the time to comment ... although just because no one is commenting doesn;t mean they're not listening, I noticed a spike in hits for one of my songs after I posted a link here, and saw that the thread had been viewed 70 times even though no one responded on the thread comment.

Everyone has their criteria for listening and responding.
Thread titles I will never listen to
"tarnce track 1452 BPM"
"ableton mix"
" this is my first eva track"
Thread titles of tracks I may listen to
"mix of lofi breakbeat on a toy drum set and this old kyoto player I knew, now dead."
"Me, live on basingstoke hospital radio with intercom interference, on a binaural head."
"Hey, I am 98 and this is my last eva track"

remember your own horrible works and how you went from a shitty idea to a good one and try and explain that path to someone.musick wrote:There are also quite a few embarassing posts on here.... how would you react to those?leedsquietman wrote:But yes, this forum is pretty pathetic that probably 3/4 posts here go uncommented but maybe it's because we're all too busy creating music with Live to have the time to comment ...

thanks mate, but thisis your thread so i wont take from its gloryScholarlyGent wrote:I like "Two surreal" and the taxi song. Great dance floor tracks.sweetjesus wrote:originally i felt the same

your tunes are cool but i think (and totally subjective) that some of the sounds despite being cool, would fit in better if they werent from such digital synths.
keep the same songs but use a nice analogue synth or something for the sounds.
otherwise good stuff
also you need to add little edits and fills to spice things up
make the end of every 4 or 8 bars do something different even if subtle.

Thanks for the advice. I wish I had some analogue synths to throw in the mix! I hear you on needing to spice things up, your definitely not the first person to say that, however I'm really going fo a minimal thing hear. I've been getting into making songs that are more like paintings simply setting a mood or an ambiance rather than like a book that tells a story. But, I think in some cases your right, some very subtle meanderings might do the piece some good, especially in "mean in a sexy way."sweetjesus wrote:thanks mate, but thisis your thread so i wont take from its gloryScholarlyGent wrote:I like "Two surreal" and the taxi song. Anyhow, thanks again for the advice. I truly appreciate it.

Like I said previously your 'mean in a sexy way' is a good tune as it is, but there is always room to make things more interesting. Sweetjesus makes a good point with adding a few fills, edits and whatever else comes to mind. I always listen to some of my records that are the same genre as the track I'm doing at the time just to get me in the mood and give me some idea's or to make me think how can I do something a little different to what I'm listening to, while still keeping a vibe going on. To me a tune is never finished, always open. I usually do a couple, sometimes 3, versions of what I'm working on and then at times I end up taking bits from each to make a final mix.

Another way to get people to listen is to come up with a good insult like 'hey fucktards, hear my music and rip it to shreds'
That one worked for me once on here !!
As for the embarassing or really poor - well my dear old mom once said if you can't say anything nice then say nothing at all... which is not encouraging if no one comments
So you might want to say something like 'feel free to give mix advice or constructive crits' etc. Although a good insult will probably get you further !!
