Firewire issues with my Mackie Satelite

Post by looselips » Sun Jul 08, 2007 4:39 pm

Hello,

I am having real issues with my Mackie Satelite although I'm convinced that it's working fine.

For the past few months I have been using my Onyx Satelite through a PCI uSB 2.0 and Fireaie card in my PC runnign XP SP2.

This was fine until yesterday when the firewire light on the onyx satelite would not light up. Checking my device manager I saw that I was receiving a code 10 problem on VIA 1364 driver.

Hours after trying many fixes I found quite a few forums with similar issues. The best piece of advice was that if you are having this code 10 issue then the best this to do is get anopther card without a VIA chip powering the PCI card. Eithert that or a retinstall.

This morning I went out and bought a belkin USB/firewire card and everyhting was fine - for about 2 hours. Now I have a slightly different issue.

The firewire light on the satelite works for about 10 - 20 minutes then the light goes out. If I reboot I get another 10 - 20 minutes before it disapears again.

The device manager shows the card to be working just fine unlike the old card.

Any ideas from the firewire experts out there? The only this I can think of is that I am getting IRQ conflicts. The resource tab in the device manager for the 1394 Compliant driver says there are no conflicts but when I check start/accessories/system information and look at my IRQ conflicts it says that the firewire is sharing IRQ 18 with my ethernet.

Please, please help.

Cheers
Tom
