i know what u mean about minimal, but if u listen to the best minimal stuff, deep down theres definitive changes to elements every single bar.

you dont have to change every element but i'd say at the end of 4 bars every element should have had some variation of something somehow.

I agree and I do except for "Mean in a Sex Way" which is pretty much in a framework stage right now. Take a listen to the other tracks and see what you think.

shit is that why nobody has critisised my track.... I thought my music just sucked ass and wasnt even worth the person writing to say that it sucked ass!

All jokes aside, I to am guilty of wanting to be heard but not listening. My excuse is that I dont really spend much time on the site because Im making music and the only time I really do visit the forum is when ive made a start or finished a track and I want a quick unbiased comment.

I will now make a concervitive effort to rate and comment on other peoples tracks, and hope people do the same for me... even if it is to say that my track sux and have alot to learn!!! Id appreciate that much more than no response at all...

the long and the short of it is, like you say, everyone wants to be heard, no-one wants to listen

I'd say that's because this is a music production software forum most people here are musicians more than listeners

I always give as many tracks a listen as I can, if someone says its their first track they've done and they stick it up on the forum like I said it takes guts and if they ask for advice then they should get it so they can progress like the rest of us. If they don't get any it can be very dis-heartening for them, as long as their not cocky about it I think they deserve a listen.

A lot of the more experienced producers on this forum should be there to help out where possible, spread the word! Its not about who better than who everybody's tastes are different but even if your not into what someone has done and they've asked for advice its nice to be nice and give advice! Man I should be a rapper!

For instance I've listened to quite a few peoples tracks and I seen others asking for advice on what their tune needs to make it better and I can say to them go listen to such and such's track that will give you idea's and something to learn from, plus it gets such and such's music heard by more people and so on. (i hope that made sense?)

I often think that my advice would be useless because i feel my knowlage of music isnt that great to start off with. I cant advise someone that there track needs more compression or lower midrange frequencies because i dont know alot about it, and if i did id be afraid of somebody Laughing at my judgement or advice.. That being said, it makes me look as if i want to be heard and not want to listen. Its a vicious circle for me and im sure its the same for alot of people here! But if i can just say that i dig the tune then ill let them know. I think alot of people here listen to other peoples tracks.. But they just dont comment, either because there intimidated, jelous, cant be bothered or just like me.. Dont feel like i have the right or knowlage to do so!

Hey man I hear you on that one, I felt the same way but the more you learn and the longer your into the production thing you can always say what you feel and then follow it up with 'in my opinion'. No one should laugh or take the piss out of you if they don't agree with what you say (unless, as i said before, that their being cocky or a know it all) in which case on this site someone will always come to your rescue! If the persons asked for advice and you think you can help, give it ago and let them know (nicely that is), and if maybe its something thats not right someone will put you straight and then you and that person asking for advice have both learnt something. Anyone being rude or laughing isn't worth listening to in the first place! You have the right to help anyone you like aerobiotic, if you've learnt something and someone needs help with what you've learnt don't be afraid to help out! then you will get help in return. If someone gives you stick everybody on this site will jump on them for you!!

I think everybody should make more of an effort to listen to each other because if we don't your just making music for yourself to listen to.
