rough translation..
A: Cycling stands for 'Anything goes', Ableton for 'It doesn't come easier'.
But to guarantee Live's workflow we have to be very carefull what features to put in or not..
This can result in some people getting disappointed because Live doesn't offer them what they need..
And that's where Cycling comes in..

Q: Is the direction of the plugins going to be aimed at internal Live effects or are you going to offer 3rd party plugins that can be used in other hosts as well?

A: The focus will be on an integrated solution. The aim is to bring the products and technologies of the two companies closer together..
Hey, can someone translate this interview. That would be very cool for us non-German speaking europeans of the old europe. Thanks in advance!

oh! I wonder if there will be a third View type thing? Its integrated, doesnt change the ease of use of live, and interfere with Classic Live real time tweaking improvise, easy arrange flow. But provides added features to the user where necessary and where required for special things, perhaps requiring a little more user input to build the thing ` incorporate it they way they desire it, and slot it in to live easily. internal, configurable, saveable, shareable, saveable as a plugin type file, loadable by others, needs a space to to build it in, (a 3rd view) needs to be as easy as possible. THis wil take alot of time I think for this baby to be born. Patience is a virtue however. Ahh, what else did Mr Roggendorf say plz. Please provide more details! Thanks!

Interesting...
Live has Python scripting hooks, integrate those Python hooks into a C74 plug-ins that are used within Live. Open the C74 Live plug in, right click - create audio/midi routing box, or drop a rack inside a C74 plug in and make your own GUI and controls for the macro, or tie the macro to other parts of Live. OR open a C74 Live plug in, open an object to get whatever data from Live (tempo, track levels, send levels, metering...) and put your own GUI on top of those objects.

Love your sig man!

If I seem a little strange.
That's because I am.

Classic

To be honest i have no clue about the racks or macros. I'm so mid 1st Century Millenium when it comes to Live, i.e Live 4. But, your thoughts certainly sound interesting to me.

with max and Live you can run a software midi router like midi yoke (pc) or IAC (mac). In Live select a midi yoke port for I/O, in max, select the same midi yoke port, just like two pieces of hardware connected with midi cables.

I guess the incorporation of the two - Live and Cycling will avoid the need for any 3rd party linkage tool. Bring the two closer, easier. In some kind of development based configurable way. Well, I'm sure it will be interesing to see when it comes. I think though it will take some serious time to do, dont want to rush something like that though i guess.

what I am hoping for

Post by totalvo » Thu Jul 12, 2007 3:58 pm

I am hoping that the max/msp patches I have built I can plug them in and use them and add effects to the max instruments I use. I also Hope that I can use my jitter patches so that i can really use the Live 6.0 video, it would be nice to be able to edit and sample video on the fly like I do with sound, but able does not allow that, max/msp/jitter does.
My speculation, a marriage of Max/msp/jitter to solve the issues that the program has with adaptability.

Yeah. The first audio performance app to incorporate Jitter-type video functions is gonna be pretty irresistible.
