but shit, *i* play at the same club those people (mentioned in orig. post) do when they come through new york, well, except for hawtin. I 'll bet they'd tell you it depends on the gig. I can tell you for certain that the spots i've played that i've also seen them at can't afford 5gs.

Well spotted. The big names like Sasha and digweed, I would of thought get maybe 4k for a normal weekend gig in the UK. For an electronic musician I would of thought about 2k also, or maybe slightly less for a normal local gig.

And, it is rude to ask about wages. Especially directly, but I'm just shooting the breeze here. And, dont say thats bad because people DO think about stuff like that, sure your not supposed to 'think it' but we're all just human at the end of the day. When I see a guy doing 20 gigs in a month you got to say, that guys getting maybe 50 k for that in one month. Thats pretty good.

Anyway, I can get a great DJ for £150, one of the best if not thee best for his style in the UK. Fucking great DJ, and great guy to boot, no bullshit with him, just straight up guy, likes his tunes, thats it.

A bit rude to pm him tho, aint it? or?

I would only PM him him or email his booking agent if I was definetly planning on booking him. I wouldnt waste his time otherwise.

ask the promoters, they'd know better than anyone.

true. thats probably the best route. To be honest though, I had an ulterior motive, and that was to share my thoughts with anyone who happened to read the posts in this forum. Cunning eh?

I charge $500 us/euros for a 90 minute performance + travel + accommodation.

I feel that this is perfectly reasonable for the amount of preperation, practice and performing I put into my sets.

I often play for $3-400 if the gig is the first time I have played in that particular city... and of course always negotiate if its somewhere really mad where travel costs will be over the top.

I play around 3-4 sets per month on average and the majority of promoters I have worked with seem to think that it is a good fee for what they get.

i heard through the grapevine that during the time when the "massives" were getting thrown in so cal by b3candee productions some of the big names were getting paid crazy amounts of money, more than the 5G range for their sets.
