In europe for two weeks, live is just a big cpu spike

Post by dreamlandscheme » Sun Jul 15, 2007 7:21 pm

Hey guys,

I am europe for a couple weeks, tryin to write some music on vac. I plugged my mac book pro in over here with a connector i bough at amsterday, since then, the battery won't be recognized at all, and live playback is HORRID, i can't even freeze some tracks, its just a real distorted mess. I have Live 6.0.5, you guys think this is a live problem or a mac one? can you not have as much power when the power source is different? Thanks for the help in advance

sounds like you fried your computer with a cheap power convertor.

Yeah. And the tracks that cant be frozen are probably linked to other tracks.

Hi,

I'm not sure of what's happening to the user here, but my understanding was that laptop power supplies could receive both 110 and 220 volts? Isn't it the case on the new Macs?

So, dreamlandscheme, did you buy a power converter, or a plug adapter only?

Well it looks like a plug convertor but maybe its a bit big for that, its like an oversized plug-convertor, and now that you mention it maybe its actually a power convertor, its just confusing coz the mac actually runs. It just wont charge the battery and live is having trouble running more than two voices together. I'll try and see what a straight-up 'plug-covertor' can do here, I hope it works. Theres nothing really wrong with the mac at the point though..

Hi,

Even though the course of events seems logical, I don't see any reason a non-charging battery would affect the Live performances, unless the mac adjusts the speed of the processor to a ridiculous small number in order to allow the mac to still work, even on very low energy.
