I doubt we will hear anything until some time after the steinberg VST3 SDK is out along with Cubase 4.1 update - I think thats end of summer/fall at best...

Anyway - you know when the next version is on the horizon as the beta annoucement goes out.
Nothing to see here - move along!

maybe while sorting out the cycling/ableton merger, Live 7 could be a huge update, and maybe we wont see it this year?

I was at ableton HQ last night, Live 7 will have a slightly modified logo, and so far that's it. Projected upgrade price is $799.

OK, $799 is a little more than I expected, but logos are important (and cost money to develop). I am a true believer in the Ableton way. I will follow.

And as long as there's stickers...

is it better to have an ableton logo for version 7 when making hip hop platinum selling records?

Please, fix issues in 6 before even thinking of putting out 7 or you may alienate folks in here. 6.0.7 seems to be ok for what I am using it for (when I get around to firing it up again....) but there apparently still a lot of issues to be resolved. And I am betting that price is a lark because I certainly won't be blowing that kind of money for an update. And I still think the update cost to 6 was high(er) that it should have been....but that's my opinion.

No it is not necessary better for serious hiphop productions but it is slightly helpful with trance and berlin minimals

...No way that'll be the case... those dudes have been quiet for too friggin long...
But yknow part of the whole 'Live Experience' is the yearly beta/ new features
and live6 has still some ends to be tied
(it's my main tool and all but there are things that are long overdue ...)
that being said...
I KNOW(hope) they don't bum us out...

Funny you should post this! I ran into Henke last night at a bar... Drank WAAAAY too much ugh my fucking head. Here's a list of features in Live 7 that I can remember us talking about.

-New logo (already posted)
-$799 (already posted)
-Partnership with Waves for new trance plugins
-New "Lil' Jon" Operator presets
-New "Steely Dan" Sampler presets (!!!)
-Better video quality using .wmv files instead of .mov
-Dual mouse control option
-Auto-shock (electrical) for users of cracked versions of Live
-Impulse upgraded to 9 slots
-Compatibility with .flv, .oog, .html, and .pkg

That's all I can remember. I hope I don't get in trouble for posting these secrets!

Seriously though, $799 seems more realistic for a person getting the full version...not an update from 6 or even 5..

And logos don't mean anything to me, it's all about whats on the inside.

Sorry to be a downer but I didn't upgrade to 6 because I was planning on getting a new laptop for 7, if this price is set in stone then I'll go ahead and pass until I have no other choice.
