Live 5 Poor Sound Quality on new MacBook Pro (2gig Intel)

Post by makrmorgan10 » Wed Jul 18, 2007 10:24 am

Hi

Am kind of new to macs in general - but have a MacBook Pro 2 Gig (Intel). Ive got Live 5, but the sound quality with my setup is not so good - it does not even play the demo song properly unfortunately, and almost all of the instruments distort.
So can any of you please advise what would be the best expansion (either hardware or software) I should use to get some decent audio. Im looking for a good piano, bass and drum sounds - so loads of synth leads isnt a priority (although some would be good).
Ive tried configuring the various sound parameters with no luck - yet when I use something else like Garageband or Reason I do not have the same issues. But I would like to get into using Live (I have live 5) a lot more.
So if any of you know of any good software/hardware updates I can use to improve the sound I get - can you let me know. Space is at a premium so Im not looking for any big units, Ideally Id like to spend between 200-300 pounds. I have a Creative Audigy ZS Soundcard for my PC and something like that for the MAC would be ideal (obviously using a USB/Firewire connection instead).
Alternatively - if you have a macbook pro (Intel 2gig) and can get Live running at least to the extent that the demo song works - please let me know what settings you've used.

thanks
Mark

You need Live 5.2.2
Earlier version of Live are not compatible with Intel Macs.

This, or upgrade to 6 and watch how fast Live runs with two cores!

you can download the Live 6 demo to check that it's all good. it should be, otherwise there'd be hell to pay on the forum from the mac users.

or sell that shit and get a PC. DOH!!!!
