Purge Option in Ableton 6

Post by neuromyth » Wed Jul 18, 2007 5:52 pm

In ableton's previous version 5,there was a simple purge button to delete all the unused files but now there seems to not be one,or i can't find it anymore...and some of my projects are 2gb with 3150 files and i don't know how to delete the unused ones....does anybody have an idea how ?

thanks
frank

I'd like to know this too. Not all of us are made out of megabytes

Hi,

Right click on the Project folder in the Live Browser, and choose 'manage project'. There, unfold the 'unused samples'. There, click 'show' for each of the section, so you'll which files are not used, in the left hand side Browser. You can review the files, listen to them using the prehear button. If you know you don't want them anymore, select them (CTRL A to select all), and hit the delete key. Repeat for each 'section' (recorded files etc...)

On a side note, I;'d love to see one button o remove these again, not 3 or 4 (and trips to the broswer) depending on what types of files they are in version 6.

Hi,

The latest Freeze file has to be kept, it is part of the 'history' and could be re-used if the track is frozen again, and it hasn't changed. Still, you should be able to erase it if you inspect the project while the set is not opened in Live.
