EDIROL PCR USERS - USING REMOTE PLAY / STOP?

Post by dinojag » Thu Dec 30, 2004 4:38 am

I've got myself a PCR-30 & am trying to get it to trigger Live's Stop & Play functions...

I can easily achive this via any of the midi notes, rotary controls or sliders BUT NOT via the L1,L2 & L3 buttons?

Anyone shed some light on assigning the L1-L3 buttons for midi control?

With Thanks

Take a look through the PCR manual. I just set mine up to control 'Stop', 'Play', and 'Stop All Clips' via MIDI CC messages and saved the mapping as part of my Live template set.

Yeah I'm going through the manual... it's not really specific enough though for an ingnoramus like me!

Are you able to give me a few starters?

use the PCR config app to setup what each of the buttons do. Ensure that you are sending out a normal CC message (doesn't really matter what # as long as its a CC) with the L buttons. Make sure the toggle/latch settings are correct as well (for play and stop, I think you want toggle, but I'm not %100 sure).

What do you mean by PCR config app... are you talking about the PCR Editor?

I've just realized that the default PCR memory set "0" has no CC's assigned to L1, L2 & L3 which probably explains why I haven't been able to use these buttons for remote midi assignments. Changing the memory setting to "1 or 2..." made it possible providing I had both port 1 & 2 set up in my midi/sync prefs.

The PCR's software editor is where it's at. I program a seperate memory for all my VSTi's, as well as any Transport functions. Get to know it, it really helped me understand midi.....and I'm a MIDIOT!!

That sounds like the way to go... I'll be heading down that path.

i am really newbie and confused.. i don't really know what to do with the 'config program' or what it is. the edirol manual is completely confusing to me.. and i consider myself pretty intelligent. anyone know where i might go for some help?
i just want all the buttons and knobs freed up so i can program them via live.. is that too much to ask? :p
i need some newbie guide or something.. this shit is confusing (i have a pcr-a30)

[edit: nm.. i found this thread which seems like it has the answers to my problems, but i'm not sure quite how to get it working yet]
