M audio firewire 1814

Post by bobtfb » Mon Jun 18, 2007 8:23 pm

Does it work well with ableton live? Any tips or pointers or that?
Basically I've had a bit of problem with my alesis io2, it worked perfect on my pc but on my new mac it's playing up so im getting a new better interface.
I also need to be able to play a click track through my headphones that can't be heard by the audience to ensure I'm totally in time when I play live etc...
Any info on this would be much appreciated, thanks!

AFAIK any m-audio device should work fine with ableton (got the M-A F/W 410 wich is one class lower than 1814)

Don't waste your time.

I spent 20 hours fucking around with the FW1814 piece of shit and it didn't work once. I returned it and got a MOTU ULTRALITE and it worked first time I plugged in now worries at all.

ULTRALITE all the WAYYYYYYY!!!

Please for the love of God and all that is holy don't subject yourself to the 1814.
Go Ultralite. It's only slightly more expensive, but has quite a bit more analog inputs and actually works.

Think Ill just weigh in here and warn you of the problems Ive had with my M-audio hardware when on the road. I have gigs coming up and my Ozonic just broke for no reason and now needs to be sent back.
I do know loads of people that have had no problems with M-audio, but then again these forums are starting to fill up with people that have sob stories like mine.
Its a risk man, be warned! Seriously tho, good luck, youll probably be fine with whatever you get, most people are...

I've had my 1814 for a couple years and have had some issues. They have all been resolved, but it hasn't exactly been a smooth ride. I'm considering getting a Presonus interface, but MOTU interests me as well. So far, the 1814 has been strictly a studio interface, but I'm looking to play live and I don't think I can trust the 1814 as a travelling interface.
