I discovered this gem a couple of weeks ago. wouldn't even attempt to estimate the hours I have wasted rendering out individual tracks over the last couple of years......................... :x

I didn't realize I looked like I was replying to you! Try recording in the arrangement and then using "copy envelope" in the edit menu and pasting it into the clip envelope.

Thanks all. I don't have any new tricks really but I found out that you can make multi sampled Impulse kits using the velocity zone function and putting multiple Impulse kits in the chain.

In the Live Browser there is the icon to browse Live's built-in plugins of course. But double-clicking on this icon collapses all the folders etc. Handy methinks, especially if you have lots of things open and it's becoming a bit of a mess.

This also happens for all the others (eg. VST/AU icon etc.)

aaaargh

I just found one that made me feel so stupid ... and Ableton look so clever at the same time.

Anyone who makes really deep racks. Ever right clicked on the 'track view selector' , the little mini view of the Racks that appears in the bottom right corner of the screen.

If you right-click on that little rack overview it shows you a hierarchic view of the entire rack structure (textually) and you can jump right to the sub rack item you want to edit.

I really wish I'd known about that before. 8O
it's in the damn manual too. I knew I should have sprung for the damn printed edition. doh!

Yeah, that's a good one. I've known about that for a while, but have yet to make a habbit of using it. Must remember.

I don't think this is possible. But I wish it were.

Bumping this, it is too good to let it slip into the depths of the forum....

I just realized today how cool it is to copy and paste automation envelopes from different devices. For instance:

-I copied pan automation from a delay
-pasted it to the delay time
-then to the delay feedback
-then to the send on an audio track
-then to the reverb on the delay track

Copying, and incrementally adjusting the automation to the specific parameters each time.

The track pretty much self generated a delay overdub.
Nice.

Anyone know if there is a place to store automation envelopes for recall in different projects?

And here's another one that I discovered while trying to do yours! So simple, man I can't believe I didn't know it and was switching back/forth to pencil tool excessively all these years.

While draw mode is OFF, double click a spot on the piano roll to make a note. Double click a note to make it go away. (no need to hit delete) :)

Cool. But I couldn't get this to work.

I'm presented with "Save changes to "xxxx" before closing?"

The options are "No", "Cancel", and "Yes".

Y or N for yes and no do nothing. Esc for cancel works though.

I also tried D, figuring that "Don't save" is the same as "No", but that doesn't do anything either...
