Summer NAMM 2007

Post by kb420 » Tue Jul 17, 2007 8:39 pm

With summer NAMM quickly approaching, any word yet on the possiblility of Live 7 being announced?

Is there anything else to be on the lookout for?

I am pretty sure there will be any news from Ableton... about Live 7 or whatever they had working about.

Those last months there have been no news about them, and the forum spam is dangerously increasing. Both are signals of something great coming.

just like those annoying and stupid mac-related rumors.
MacBook Pro M3 Max, Scarlett 4i4 4th Gen, Ableton Move, LaunchPad Pro MK3, Behringer Edge, TecWav noise synth, Crank Sturgeon Plug Ugly contact mic, and oodles of effects pedals.

Only a few days away, and now I hear there is no Ableton booth.

Is that true?

Look on the NAMM site. No sign of Avid/Ableton/M-Audio on there in the list of exhibitors. Unless they show under a different entity of course.

Yes. Word within the industry is that SummerNAMM will be a major snoozefest this year, SummerNAMM last year was already a snoozefest, this year NAMM is compensating by raising the exhibitor rates and scaring off the last major exhibitors who were on the fence about coming to Austin this year.

Say it aint so!

Seriously....I've been waiting for a month or two now to wait and buy ableton 6 after the announcement so I could get the free upgrade. I don't want to buy it now and have to pay $xxx just to upgrade in a few months.

I've been using FL Studio for awhile, but I am so sick of PC. PC's freakin' suck. And Ableton is the only other program I am interested in using.

I do have one question (hope): Just because they weren't listed as a vendor doesn't mean they wont be there right? The list of vendors from the Summer NAMM site was pretty paltry....pretty sad if that is truely all there is going to be there. From what I remember, there were no pro audio cats there at all......[/quote]

get a hold of Live Lite and check out the upgrade prices on that.

pc vs. mac... the user has MUCH more of an effect on comparing the machines, if you're inclined to switch do so but don't blame the machine.

Ableton confirmed a NO GO! for Summer NAMM.....

Post by lis-ten » Tue Jul 24, 2007 8:49 pm

So after posting my last response, I checked between my legs and found that yes, in fact, I do have balls....so I called NAMM headquarters to ask. The very nice lady who answered took the time to look up their full vendor/exhibitor list and confirmed that Ableton was not on the list, in fact almost no pro-audio. Just guitar kids.........

in the immortal words of Comic Book Guy: "There is no emoticon for what I am feeling!!"

So....what do you guys think? Just bite the bullet and buy it? How much have the upgrades cost in the past? I highly doubt as some of the other rumors state that the upgrade would be $799.

I agree, I have been a mac guy all along, decided to give it a try cuase someone gave me a licensed copy of FL Studio. The program is cool.....but I have done all the tricks to "tune" my pc (at least according to musicxp.net) and still, I get crashes, freezes, driver problems, bugs, potential viruses, De-fragging, blah blah blah. Maybe I just got spoiled using Logic and a Mac. Ableton just looks so much "funner" to play with. Much more creative. I know I could be patient and wait for Logic 8......but I've been bitten by the impule bug and just *want* something new. KNow what I'm saying?

No offense against PC's.....I just don't understand them, and I'm too lazy to want to figure them out.
