i admit that it looks neat and tidy inside the genelecs, but then again so a Big Mac looks neat and tidy too yet isnt really a great hamburger.zebastian21 wrote:What??? I have seen the inside of the Genelecs 8000 series and they do not look cheap at ALL!! the built quality is superb and Looks great also.....I think the Genelecs are excellent Hi end monitor from the inside out...and specially its sound.sweetjesus wrote:you should see how cheap they look on the inside.Alien Leg wrote:I also tried the Adam A7 and didn't like the bass response. I then got Genelec 8040 which are better for electronic music production IMHO. They go crazy deep for their size. I also love the build quality of the 8040s, like an indestructible stone.
have you ever seen a speaker made from discreet components? i opened up an 8030 next to some nice speakers and the visual difference was like comparing a Ferarri to a Toyota.
I compared Adam 7 and Dynaudio BM5a side by side at my home studio and I chose BM5a. Adams may have better transient reproduction (didn't notice that), but the soundstage was flat and upper midrange was a mess. Couldn't hear even a simple 3D echo effects clearly.
In any case make sure to break in the monitors before making any comparisons.

Female. You have to buy them; you can get a pair of monster cable balanced leads shipped for under $40.buckman wrote:What i would like to know on the ADAM's is the XLR connector - is it male or female? and do the balanced leads come with the speakers? or do we have to buy them seperate?
FWIW, if money is available, I recommend jumping the Adam S active series. Even the S1A's have that amazing clarity (as in "wow"!), whereas A7 is simply a decent overall speaker. I do love the tweeter, though.

I will not argue about the inside of genelecs because it's not the inside that counts but the outside, just like woman
, nice curves all over the place, but they are indeed build like a brick of concreet. I got the 40's and they just blow me away everytime I compare them to another speaker of any kind.
I compared them to KRK's V6 and the difference is just too big to ignore ..

OK, I need to get in on this discussion. I have been having the most unbearable time with my ASP8's. They are picking up some intense interference, both radio and electrical type noise. It's not a grounding problem but an interference problem, and I've decided to troubleshoot the sheilding quality by going out and purchasing some new monitors to put in their place to see if they pick up the same interference.Alien Leg wrote:Yeah, just have a look inside the Event ASP8. Now thats cheap looking!
So on the topic of INSIDE build quality, which ones are you guys saying are the best? I was going to bring home the 8030's to try out, and SJ is saying the insides are crap? Who's got good innards? I understand sound is personal, but for me that's not what's on trial here. I look forward to the help, I'm going to pick up some monitors today.
