east coast yeah
perth is supposed to be good - but a long way from anywhere - actually closer to indonesia than the major Australian cities
there would probably be the most work in sydney or melbourne, although as I say Queensland is actually booming and has pretty low unemployment
depends what you're after, how old you are, whether you're more city or outdoor or nightlife type

Western Australia is the place to go for work at the moment apparently... The mining boom seems to be making everyone rich (but it can't last forever). Unskilled workers are moving over there and earning 200k a year in the mines. F*cking mental!
Anyways, Melbourne is definitely my fav place in the country (Sydney's probably my second fav), but everyones different really. I grew up in a redneck country hick town and Melbourne was the closest city so it was natural for me to come here when I was old enough. Naturally I've never looked back (even my parents followed me here!).

Sydney is cool but rent is MEGA expensive.
Melbourne is traditionally the center of Electronic music in Australia.
What are you into ?
Breaks, House, Drum n Bass, Techno, HipHop, Funk, Hardcore ?
The clubs in Sydney have to pay around $100,000 p.a. for alcohol licences
wheras in Melbourne its about $10,000 p.a.
So you get a lot better smaller clubs / bars in Melbourne.
Brisbane is very hot and humid and pretty small but the environment makes up for it.
Perth is the most isolated major city on the planet, but it has a good electronic music environment.
Adelaide is pretty cool too, the city of churches.
Hobart is pretty small but Tasmania is incredibly beautifull.
I am on exchange in SF and i gotta say i miss the amazingly georgous women in Sydney - except the girls in SF have more tastey Tattoos.
Oh and unlike SF, a lot of places stay open past 2am...

Check out Nimbin...OvertoneZero wrote:Cool, thanks for the info. Curious: is pot legal there?
You can problee google it or something. Spent some time on the east coast. Lovely place. Sydney was fun. remember lots of people listening to funkhouse. Think thats what they called it, and a bunch of people tryin to make hip hop...Gotta say though, being from the US, seems like Oz is truly the land of the free...Women were quite lovely too, loved the whole NY thang.
