It's been bloody cold here actually! but wait til summer...

actually Brisbane is catching up to Melbourne in alot of ways culturally - I know so many people who have left the southern states for the climate, so with that comes the cultural side - I've been slowly growing very attached to Brisbane, I love it here now

Hobart is an awesome city - last time I went there I was amazed at how cosmopolitan it had got - and I went clubbing and one of the most "'avvin it" crowds I've come accross - thing with Hobart is people are a bit cut off and so they are well and truly up for a banging time

I don't know how serious it is really but I read the other day that there's shiteloads of police being sent to Nimbin to "clean" the place up... it may not be as great as your making it out to be anymore! I can imagine quite a big exodus if what I read is really happening...

problem with Nimbin is it got overrun by smackheads - the relaxed approach got abused like anything does in the end

but overall, you wont have too much trouble getting weed, it's the national drug of choice

although I was AMAZED to read somewhere last year that Oz has taken over the UK in highest ecstacy use - people seem to make it here now so I think you can get some pretty decent ones these days - not that I do that stuff in my old age any more!

Pretty much everything in its time, mood, and place but Hardcore the least.

Is there anyone who would actually recommend NOT doing so and why?

Anything important, maybe legal, health, or finance-related, to consider before going?
Just remember that you will be living amongst the inbred decendants of expatriated English thieves, muggers, and lepers. Your first stop should be at a gun store. 8O

don't forget to get a kangaroo licence, as it's the preferred mode of transport these days (all us being yippies and all). and watch out for crocs, they sometimes sneak in your back yard looking for a drink (we were having a drought, after all).

Don't you mean simply amazing? :D
Just yankin' yer chain mate. Too many Mad Max movies. Besides everybody knows that inbreeding stuff ended decades ago and that the Land of Oz is brimming with kind, gentle, people with teeth much nicer than the Brits! And the Aboriginies... hardly any cannibals left amongst them. It should be pretty safe.

Well then i would say Melbourne for all-round quality music.

Tasmania if you dont mind a bit of quiet with your raging.
A few of my best friends are from there and its got treasure.

Brisbane can get as hot as hell, promising for HipHop.
but you should ask forge about it cause he lives there

But if you can make it in Sydney, you can make it anywhere in Oz.
Its got a lot of that House and metrosexual emo-punk stuff but that
just makes us either sell-out or get better at what we do.
There is a thriving underground lifestyle to be experienced but it can
be erratic and hard to find, but then you can just go to the beach :)
And I always enjoyed being flown down to Melbourne for gigs
and being treated better than if i lived there...

I am thinking about Melbourne when i get back but I grew up in the
Blue Mountains 2hrs west of Sydney and we had weed and shrooms
growing all over the place.

My suggestion is go to Sydney, make some money and fly to places
like Perth and check it out. If Sydney is not doing it for ya. Move.

If you want some info about Syd just PM me and I'll tell you what
i know.

You got Forge in Brisbane too.

BTW I am in SF anyone got any news about underground beats here ?
I was going to go to Burningman but its way too fucking expensive,
I hate pretentious Hippies and from what I am told the original vibe is maybe on the decline...
I emailed them about working for a ticket and they responded by avoiding the question...

So

I am buying myself a DaveSmith Evolver with the money I am saving !!!
and I'll do the Decompression party here in SF.

or that KP3 to do some live Glitching and Beatboxing...

PS. Gear in Australia is VERY expensive. Buy yo stuff before you go
and make sure you have the correct 240V power thing happening.

jebus... just realised what a long post.

OvertoneZero wrote:Not sure really, maybe Sydney? Depends on work, basically.

I don't know much about the geography, but I keep hearing good things about the land down under and everyone I've met from Australia is cool. It seems like a potential mecca of coolness. And yeah I also hear the girls are great. :D
Overtone it really depends on what your reasons are for coming here. I've been here for the last 3 years.. originally came to go to school and haven't left. But don't let that fool you I'll be leaving as soon as I can.

I won't go into details out of respect for the Aussie folks here... I'll just say I haven't been received well here at all!! And I'm a pretty easy going dude. I think things might have been different 10 years ago... maybe before Bush humiliated, betrayed and defaced the American people... but who knows. Sadly I think because of whats going on with America right now Americans aren't received well in lots of places around the world (maybe most places).

If I was you Overtone I'd consider Europe or even staying where you're at for awhile. If you do decide to come down under bring lots of money cause it aint cheap, heres a few things to expect and not to expect:

Expect:
Amazing un-crowded beaches
Crystal clear water
Good looking girls (but there is beautiful girls just about anywhere you go in the world)
Beautiful pristine nature

Don't Expect:
Easy good looking girls
Good beer
Good food
Cheap anything (especially gear)
Good service
Friendly service

And DO NOT come here for the drugs... unless of course you enjoy paying 10 times for the worst drugs you've ever come across in your life. The only exception to that is pot and that aint cheap either.

In fact just go to Europe dude...
